• USA vs Sweden

From Lee Lofaso@2:203/2 to All on Fri Sep 11 15:21:33 2020
    Hello Everybody,

Which country will win the race to the bottom?
Will it be the USA, led by the orange clown?
Or will it be Sweden, led by nobody in charge?
Here are the mortality rates pertaining to coronavirus -

    https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/data/mortality

Notice the very close contest between the US and Sweden -

    Country | Confirmed Cases | Deaths | Case-Fatality | Deaths/100K Pop.
    USA 6,396,551 191,766 3.0% 58.61
    Sweden 86,194 5,843 6.8% 57.38

You read that right. Swedes are dying twice as fast as Americans.
It will not take long for Swedes to overcome the numbers shown above.
With that in mind, the editor of the Fidonews should take note to
mask up, and always wash his hands after touching his keyboard.

My bet is on the country that does not filter the stats:

You read that right. Swedes are dying twice as fast as Americans.

It's the other way around. Sweden was leading USA for a long time, before the US caught up -- when they no longer could hide the true numbers. Dead people always count -- no matter how hard you try to hide them.

With that in mind, the editor of the Fidonews should take note to
mask up, and always wash his hands after touching his keyboard.

No worries mate. Like most Swedes I am taking mask-on and social distancing very seriously. We don't need a Bunker Boy to tell us what to do, we knew from the start (in January) that this was serious business.

As the professionals say: we'll not know the true numbers for at least a year or two from now...

I expect the internet to die out within the next few years, if not
sooner. The pandemic, along with vaccines and innoculations, etc. will
take at least another year before anything approaching normal exists.
Colleges and universities have become the new hot spots, along with
other schools of learning. Many people here are no longer paying any
attention to whatever mandates are issued by governors or others.

Herd Immunity Threshhold. That is the de facto policy of the Trump administration. Do as little as possible to prevent people from getting
sick. Have covid parties (Trump rallies). Allow for football games with
lots of people (without wearing masks) in stands. Open restaurants and
let everybody dine on whatever they like indoors so they can at least
have a good meal before they die.

The forest fires raging out west will continue to march eastward,
and all the houses will be destroyed in the process.

After we lose about 70% of our population, we might have enough land
available for Russians to come over and build new houses. And that will
    be good for business ...

Don't be so despair! ;-) It will end soon. Actually, SAR and SAR2(covid)
are similar viruses, and they live according the same rules. The only difference between them is the level of transmissibility (and SAR2 is
much less deadly). As the rezult SAR had developed on Earth in a much
smaller area and died itself, and all the vaccines against SAR appeared
to be useless waste of money.

In other words SAR2 is a scaled replica of SAR. It will die after people
in the area (Earth in the SAR2 case) become exposed to the virus for
necessary time. After that the epidemic ends.

    Cheers! ;)

Well, it is true we were saved by the Obamanation last time.
But this is the Trumpoverse, and everything is turning burnt orange.

The forest fire is giving America an orange glow. At some point there
will be nothing left to burn. And you know what that means. The virus
will then have no place to run, and no place to hide. The epidemic ends
and Donald Trump will posthumously be declared Savior of the World.

It depends on the methods they count covid deaths. I had already told
you here that if, in the last year, the current covid death counting
method would have been applied to the people who died just _WITH_ flu
virus we will see flu as the most awful epidemic. In other words, the
high numbers of covid deaths are artificial. WHO demands that every dead person should be considered killed by covid if the virus found in the
body. It is utterly wrong and misleading and makes unnecessary panic.

In short, in this year, enormous part of deaths caused by many other
deseases are artificially attributed to covid. It becomes a bugaboo in
this way. This statement can be checked easily -- for instance, if we
look the numbers of deaths of common (not covid) versions of pneumonia
we will see a very small number of them. It it a lie of the statistic.

Nobody came up with a vaccine for the Spanish Flu.
And yet the human race survived.
The same is likely to happen with COVID=19.
We might be told about a vaccine.
That does not mean there is or will be one
    that is safe and effective.

With the Spanish Flu, a person gets it,
24 hours later that person is dead.

With COVID-19, a person gets it,
three or four weeks later that person is dead.

Laurie Garrett, a specialist on the coronavirus, explained it in ways
better understood. The problem is cardiovascular. People with diabetes,
heart problems, and hypertension (high blood pressure) are most at
risk of dying. Of those who have died, 100 percent had hypertension.
Someone who does not have any of those conditions could contract the
virus, but would most likely only suffer mild symptoms, and maybe
    none at all.

There are ways to lie with statistics. I am very familiar with
that, as are others. As explained by Dr. Garrett, those with certain
conditions are most likely to die. One can use statistics to find
those groups, as statistics is not an evil in and of itself. It is
how one chooses to use statistics that can make things misleading.

I say once again -- any illnesses like flue, pneumonia cause heavy complications on the people with chronic diseases. If you have flu and temperature 103F, it can end lamentably if you have cardiovascular and

    attribute death if it happened.

    Here's the problem -
The CDC counts those who have died *with* COVID-19.
But people of the country want to know how many people
    have died *of* COVID-19.

One can argue there are few cases with COVID-19
as the cause of death, but rather lots of cases with
COVID-19 as an underlying cause of death.

It gets even worse, as the CDC uses two different sets
of criteria to determine who has died as a result of COVID-19.
And both of those sets are subjective (one set being each state
with its own criteria, the other set each individual physcician
    with his/her own criteria).

"You have situations where a person dies from multiple causes.
You could put down COVID, you could put down cancer, you could
put down heart disease. So, at one point, it becomes fairly
random, and we're basically at that point."
~ Andrew Cuomo, Governor of New York

As you know a patient with AIDS dies not of AIDS, but of flu or
pneumonia, but only crazy people say that he dies of flu or pneumonia.
In other words, medics should count deaths of all diseases in equal way. And in this way the death numbers will not concentrate on the account of one disease, as is now in case of covid epidemic.

If an individual who has died is found to be, or have been,
COVID-19 positive, then he/she is often counted as having died
of COVID-19. Even if other underlying causes were what killed
him/her. The distinction is left to the physician to decide.

More accurate would be to say the person died of complications
due to COVID-19, rather than of COVID-19 itself.

Kind of like AIDS. Nobody dies of AIDS. Just look at Magic Johnson.

More accurate would be to say the person died of complications
due to COVID-19, rather than of COVID-19 itself.

More accurate would be to keep records of how many excessive deaths you have, compared to any other, normal year. That's what we do in Sweden.

Of course it means that we seem to have a lot of deaths, but at least we think we can contribute them properly.

As our chief expert said: we only have the true numbers many years away from now...

    Hello Bj”rn,

More accurate would be to say the person died of complications
due to COVID-19, rather than of COVID-19 itself.

More accurate would be to keep records of how many excessive deaths you have, compared to any other, normal year. That's what we do in Sweden.

I posted the numbers of the USA versus the numbers of Sweden,
comparing the two side by side. Note the difference with the USA
being shown as having a 3.0% death rate vs Sweden being shown
as having a 6.8% death rate.

The way the mortality death rate is calculated by each country
is the difference. Had the USA used Sweden's method, the mortality
death rate would have been closer to 6.8% rather than 3.0%

Of course it means that we seem to have a lot of deaths, but at least we think we can contribute them properly.

Stats do not change the number of deaths. How deaths are counted
are a whole new ball game.

As our chief expert said: we only have the true numbers many years away
    from
    now...

    Spanish Flu.
Day 1 - contract the flu
    Day 2 - dead

    COVID-19
    Week 1 - everything fine
    Week 2 - everything fine
Week 3 - no taste or smell
Week 4 - gag, cough, phlegm
Week 5 - pushing up daisies

    Hello Alexander,

I say once again -- any illnesses like flue, pneumonia cause heavy
complications on the people with chronic diseases. If you have flu
and temperature 103F, it can end lamentably if you have
cardiovascular and other problems. I repeat that the matter is to
which illness you attribute death if it happened.

Here's the problem - The CDC counts those who have died *with*
COVID-19. But people of the country want to know how many people
    have died *of* COVID-19.

And also people want to know not the number registered covid cases for
the half-yearly period -- they want to know the number people who is
    covid positive AT present moment.

Do they? Last night very few people were wearing a mask while
listening to President Trump (who also was not wearing a mask)
at a rally. This really was more like a super-spreader event.
How many who attened last night's event will wind up getting
sick or dead? We won't know until a few weeks from now.

Bottom line. As long as the president himself does not get
sick and die, everything is fine. So where's the problem?

Do you want to cause panic in some city?

Everybody at the Trump rally was cheering him wildly.
No panic at all. Nothing but madness. Total madness.

Tell them the general number of people who have had the virus for
a long period of time. But in the opposite case you'll tell them how
many people are ill at present day.

Look. Nobody knows how many people are, or have been, sick.
It is known how many are dead who have at least had COVID-19.
After about three months or so, tests do not show if one has
been exposed to COVID-19. So. How many people are contagious?
    Nobody knows.

One can argue there are few cases with COVID-19 as the cause of
death, but rather lots of cases with COVID-19 as an underlying
    cause of death.

We also know now that the majority of people are ill with covid without symptoms.

That can easily be shown by the low numbers of people who have
    been tested.

It means that they can be ill with all possible diseases, but
covid has nothing to do with clinical course.

Which is exactly what Laurie Garrett has been telling people.

But in case of death there is the order to attribute this death to covid because it was found in the body. Bad statistic!

The physician is required to note COVID-19 if it is found.
Even if the real cause of death has nothing to do with COVID-19.
Each state has its own criteria. 50 states, all different. The
CDC uses two different sets - that of the state and that of the
    physician.

So, what do we have here in the USA? It's a crap shoot.
    A random crap shoot.

LL> We won't know until a few weeks from now.

Well, these people don't believe in the false covid death statistics. I
am not the only one who says that covid death counting method is
misleading. Around 3 million -- that is a usual yearly death rate from different diseases in the US only. And many of people, who dies, can
have covid virus without symptoms. Having virus tells nothing -- vast
majority of people don't have heavy complications from covid itself, but people like diabetics etc do have.
    https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/deaths.htm

LL> Bottom line. As long as the president himself does not get sick and
LL> die, everything is fine. So where's the problem?

I tell you -- as you can see it, practically there are NO big
politicians who died of covid. ;-) It is not because they have secret,
magic pills against covid - it is because they have possibility just to
stay in bed, while being ill. Millions on people on Earth have no such
an opportunity -- they must go to work to get money for living. It is
the specific of all capitalistic countries. These people are the main
covid harvest, apart from chronics and the old people with poor health.

ak>> Do you want to cause panic in some city?
LL> Everybody at the Trump rally was cheering him wildly. No panic at
LL> all. Nothing but madness. Total madness.

Well, do you think that the Swede are mad, too? Actually, they do things
that every one nations will do sooner or later. They live taking
reasonable risk. Yes, they failed defend nursery homes, but it doesn't
mean that quarantine should be everywhere, for all.

ak>> Tell them the general number of people who have had the virus for
ak>> a long period of time. But in the opposite case you'll tell them
ak>> how many people are ill at present day.

Every day people should know the present number of patients who are
really ill with covid. All the millions without symptoms are no not sick people, as the people with HIV virus are not necessary ill.

ak>> We also know now that the majority of people are ill with covid
    ak>> without symptoms.
LL> That can easily be shown by the low numbers of people who have been
    LL> tested.

Tests are not necessary to estimate the hidden covid cases. Just because deaths from covid are not possible to hide. It means that all hidden/undetected case are/were without symptoms.
