    Hello Everybody,

Nick the Nihilist can deny it all he wants, but Greta the Great
has spoken! Arriving in Davos, Switzerland just hours before
The Orange One made his appearance, she had this to say about
what is being done in the world today about climate change -

Greta Thunberg: 'Nothing has been done' to tackle the climate crisis

    Source: CNN

    By Hadas Gold,

Davos, Switzerland (CNN Business) Greta Thunberg took the stage at the
World Economic Forum Tuesday to admonish world leaders for doing
"basically nothing" to reduce carbon emissions despite evidence of a
    looming climate catastrophe.

Speaking just hours before President Donald Trump's scheduled
appearance at the annual gathering of the world's political, business
and financial elite, the teen activist said awareness of the climate
crisis had shot up but in other respects, not much had changed.

"Pretty much nothing has been done since the global emissions of CO2
has not reduced," Thunberg said. "f you see it from that aspect, what
has concretely been done, if you see it from a bigger perspective,
basically nothing ... it will require much more than this, this is
    just the very beginning."

Asked what she wanted to see in the future, Thunberg said "that we
start listening to the science and that we actually start treating
this crisis as the crisis it is."

    Hello Ward,

Greta Thunberg took the stage at the World Economic Forum Tuesday ...

    Correction ...

"I wonder, what will you tell your children was the reason to fail
and leave them facing the climate chaos you knowingly brought upon
them?" ~Greta Thunberg, 1/21/2020, blaming it all on Ward D.

According to US President Donald J. Trump, she is among the
"prophets of doom" who is ushering in the apocalypse. Not sure
who the others are, but she is definitely among them.

Greta Thunberg took "a stage" in Davos (one of the many secondary), not
    "the
    stage".

"I'm not the person who can complain about not being heard - I'm
being heard all the time." ~Greta Thunberg

With these events there are always a number of stages, but the Walhalla?
    ??
Where it really matters ? ??

    Of course it matters.
    Do you love your children?
Think about what the girl said -

"Our house is still on fire. Your inaction is fueling the flames
by the hour. We are still telling you to panic, and to act as if
you loved your children above all else."
~ Greta Grunberg, after Trump arrived in Davos to see her

    Nope !!

I found it on the internet. So it must be true!

I have my access to some of the IPCC scientists, the negotiators, people who were on the Monaco-2019 meeting (the IPCC 51 session), who drafted the "Special Report on the Ocean and Cryosphere in a Changing Climate" (which up till now you probably have never heard about).

People, scientists, confirm miss Thunberg and the others in the "Youth for Climate" movement are not an asset but a hindrance to get crucial work done as these youngsters have enthusiasm but lack knowledge and academic qualifications causing crucial grant-giving institutions to become misdirected and distracted...

Miss Thunberg has been created by the media who need to produce popular airtime and fill columns so that these media can sell advertisements. That's what's happening.

If tomorrow an Airbus-380 with 600 passengers on board crashes with zero survivors then nobody talks about miss Thunberg anymore.

Ever heard again of Severn Cullis-Suziki? No? Guess why ...

of course i did, even long before thunberg was despised by millions of
    dumb fucks. though i didn't notice cullis-suzuki in 1992. but why? ... ;)

As a board-member of the European Environmental Bureau I was in 1991 and 1992 involved in the preparation for UNCED (United Nations Conference on Environment and Development), the Rio-conference. Severn Cullis-Suzuki was a 12yr old who had written letters style-Greta "we're all going to die". She was coached by her father David Suzuki, an environmentalist who in the meantime lost all credibility in Canada ... Greta is also coached by her dad.

Severn Cullis-Suzuki was subsequently invited to speak in Rio where she made a presentation saying verbatim "I am afraid to go out in the sun now because of the hole in our ozone" ... same as Greta-statements "How dare you?" ... no knowledge, no science, stupid statement but people loved it ... a 12yr old girl with a pony-tail. She must be right, such a cute kid.

Her statement which was later refered to as "the girl who silenced the world for 5 minutes" is now forgotten but can be found on YouTube.

Well, when in 2000 I was invited by the Secretary-General of the UN Kofi Annan to consult on and co-organize the "Rio+10" conference in Johannesburg which would take place in 2002 and get the name "Earth Summit" (and bring 176 heads of state around the table) ... Severn Cullis-Suzuki was seated next to me, 20 years old now, unable to make a coherent statement beyond what she said in Rio, 8 years prior. I was expected to sheperd her through meetings but it was hopeless... however the press-boys loved it, she was "on the front page / on the top of news websites / trending / ..." as you put it ... journalists needed to fill airtime and columns to sell advertisements.

Severn Cullis-Suzuki was an enormous one-trick poney, she could do one thing and then she was done.

Greta Thunberg I firmly believe is a one-trick poney as well, Anuna de Wever (the Belgian Greta) too...

You may also wonder why there are no boys in that league ... I'm not saying anything.

So I expect you (or others) to turn now against my person but Gerrit Kuehn will set you straight because I hold an academic degree in environmental sciences (and also one in computer sciences BTW). So go ahead and eloquently explain that I'm in love with myself.

Thanks for your view, it was spot on.

Decisions are based on elections and the results are decided by what we call the silent majority in Australia. They are not going to vote for higher taxes or schemes that put people out of work, it's as simple as that.

If real actions for the enviroment are to happen, it will require a consensus going forward by both sides of government. These actions will be based on
facts provided by credible scientists (in Australia we have the CSIRO) not the noise coming from the press.

Greta is just white noise and a waste of time.

Now imagine if the press actually published pracital changes from credible sources, then perhaps change will be possible.

    Terry,

Greta is just white noise and a waste of time.

Let's not throw away the child with the bathwater ... the message has merit.

At some point during a meeting with politicians, learned individuals, stakeholders of a different nature, the question was asked to raise the 3 most important environmental problems.

The politicians looked away because it was up to them to fix anything they'd identify. The academics went-off on incredible monologues of very complicated matters.

When it was my turn I said "War, poverty, human rights and empowerment of women" and at the same time I appologized for not being able to count. The politicians and the scientists looked on in disbelief "What's he talking about?", representatives from most of Africa, parts of south-east Asia, the Indian subcontinent agreed.

It's very simple, there will be no improvement in countries which are under a blanket of war, where people are poor, where there's hunger, lack of human rights and where women are not on equal terms with men because these folks have other priorities than dealing with plastic bags from shopping outlets or drinking through plastic straws. It's a global thing, not just local in Sweden, or Belgium, or Honduras or whatever. There are totalitarian regimes oppressing people and religion ... "any" religion ... is playing a dirty role too.

Now imagine if the press actually published pracital changes from
credible sources, then perhaps change will be possible.

Change has to be global. I doubt I will see any significant change during my lifetime...all wars need to come to an end first, no more human rights violations, erradicate hunger ... before people will start thinking with their head not having to wonder what they will be eating that evening ... if there will be food at all.

She is not talking about planting trees. Such band-aid approaches
will get us nowhere. She is talking truth to power, which is why
people like Donald Trump get so upset.

"Richer countries need to get down to zero emissions much faster

I agree about change in our lifetime, the United Nations (silly words) can't
do anything, change will only come when the major powers get together and punish other major powers like China and Russia if they don't do their part by reducing trade with them. At the present the west is too dependant on trade with China so it is difficult to do.

This will take real leadership and political will from the west as a group instead of thinking about their own self interest.

Trump does the exact same thing; he can fart and it would be front page

news. Your princess Greta is just an angry ADHD puppet of her parents and NA>handlers with an agenda, this has been clearly proven. She won't pressure NA>the public to do jack shit in the end, other than convince a small portion NA>of idiots such as yourself that the world will end in a decade.

You know what cracked me up?

Several years ago the climate doomsdayers were spouting about the polar ice caps disappearing! Polar bears dying left and right....

So in order to `prove' the point a bunch of doomsayers got on a ship and tried to go to the South Pole to demonstrate the `disappearing ice' mantra.

Low and behold....they got stuck in the ice! They got stuck so bad they spend weeks sitting stuck! Even ice breakers couldn't free them. They finally had to be lifted of with helicopters and flown somewhere to be treated medically and flown home. That might have been the Australian Navy that rescued the first bunch.

Yeah.. that wasn't a misprint! I typed `the first bunch'! Because there was a second such `ship of fools' either the same year or a year or so later! With the same result!

You know ....I've often wondered how quickly some of this stupidity on the
part of people with high-end stupidity would disappear if the cost of risking other lives, equipment and efforts to rescue them from their latest dumb stunt were presented to them as a bill to be paid!

I suspect after a few dipwicks were charged the huge sums it costs to send rescue sips, the loss of any equipment sustained in the rescue, not to mention the salaries of the rescuers.....a lot of that stupidity would fade away!

Like a person who decides to `climb' a dangerous thing like `El Cap' and gets stuck half-way up....after a few are charged the huge sums it costs for their rescue (not to mention the life-threatening position the rescuers are
sometimes put in) A laot of that would stop also.

They do. It was pretty clearly measured, e.g., by changes in the gravity field. The satellite mission on that is named "GRACE": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GRACE_and_GRACE-FO

GRACE data have provided a record of mass loss within the ice sheets of Greenland and Antarctica.
