Wow. Mate, we're having a cool spell here... 27C today. Bundy topped about 30C, I think.

It won't last long. Which is good as it's bloody uncomfortable.

S'okay. They're predicting 39C in Brisbane on the weekend. Meaning 40+ up here.

It's just natural and we cannot do anything about it. That it's men made
is just a lie created by some liberal democrats or something like this ...

    It's still uncomfortably warm.

That will soon change with the upcoming pole shift.

Do you honestly believe that all of the shit mankind pumps into the air,
    and
all of the land we cover in cement/buildings is NOT affecting the environment?

Only the shit the British pump into the sea.
British Petroleum. Remember them? British oil company.
Pumped billions of crude into the Gulf of Mexico, destroying
shrimps and other sea animals. An American president from
Kenya went to Grand Isle, Louisiana to inspect the damage.
And all he gave us was the audacity of hope. Really.
Talk about hope we can believe in.

    You know what happened next.

Vladimir Putin installed Donald Trump as the next POTUS, starting
a domino effect, with several other countries following, including
    Australia and England.

Anyway, none of that compares with the upcoming pole shift.

You see, those guys holding the signs
Repent! Repent! The End is Nigh
really do know what they are ranting about.

The day after Christmas is when it all begins.

Starting in Mecca, running through the southern tip of India, and
ending in the Philippines, will be a total eclipse of the sun. This
is the sign all Muslims have been waiting for since the time of their
Holy Prophet. What am I talking about? The appearance of the Mahdi.
The eclipse runs through the Muslim lands notifying all of whom they
have been waiting for has arrived to make his appearance.

After the eclipse, the Mahdi makes his appearance, with Isa (Jesus)
at his side, to lead all true believers against the Dajjal (devil)
    and his brethren (infidels).

Then comes Judgment Day (pole shift) when all are damned.

To escape these things, you will have to flee to the new north pole.
Or to the new south pole. Before (not after) the upcoming pole shift.

The new north pole is clearly marked on the map as Polo Norte,
in Brazil. This is in the middle of the tropical forest, near
where the Amazon River begins (not ends). I hope you do speak
Portuguese. Not many folks in those parts speak anything else.

The new south pole is located in open water, where the Spratly
Islands are. The islands are uninhabitable, being rocks with no
vegetation. But China is building lots of artificial islands
there, and manning them with armed scientists who are studying
the fish that swim in the sea.

Australia will be more like Lapland without the reindeer
once this pole shift happens. So please. Enjoy the warm
    weather while you still can.

Meanwhile, Bj”rn will be enjoying life on the equator ...

Sad. Truly sad. The upcoming pole shift takes place the day
after Christmas and folks are still believing the same old nonsense
    called "climate change".

Find a globe. Locate a country called Brazil. Go to where the
Amazon River begins, not where it ends. There is a town called
Polo Norte, which is the location of the new north pole.

Brazilians are flocking to this location, as they know what is
soon to take place. Remember, Polo Norte is Portuguese for North
Pole. After the pole shift, whoever owns the poles will control
the world. Brazilians want to make sure they own what is already
    on their own land.

On the opposite side of the globe is the Spratly Islands. These
islands are uninhabited, as they are mere rocks in the middle of
nowhere. But the Chinese are building many artificial islands
in that area, claiming the entire area as being part of China.

I do hope and pray you can speak Portuguese. Or Chinese.
I doubt English, or French, will do you much good in the new
world order that is almost here.

    Hello Oli,

Australia is going through a warm patch. It was 45C (113F) here DD>today
    - and is supposed to warm up even more later in the week.

It's just natural and we cannot do anything about it. That it's men made
    is
just a lie created by some liberal democrats or something like this ...

    The truth is out there.

We are about to experience another pole shift. These things are not
everyday occurrences, so please forgive those who have forgotten our
own past. After all, it has been some 12,000+ years since the last
time such an event of this magnitude took place.

However, do not despair. We know where the new north pole will be.
And also where the new south pole will be. That means we can prepare
    for the future.

Find a globe. Notice where the north pole is. And notice where
the south pole is. The north pole is at the top, and the south pole
    is at the bottom.

The new north pole was found a good many years ago, but nobody
advertised it, which is why it has remained hidden from sight all
these years. But it is there. And clearly marked. On that same
globe I told you to find.

Try to locate a country named Brazil. Then find the Amazon River.
Go to where it begins, near the border with Peru. There is a town
called Polo Norte. That is Portuguese for "North Pole".

Lots of Brazilians are flocking to Polo Norte, resettling there
rather than remaining on the coast or in Rio where all the parties
are held. This also explains why so many Brazilian farmers are
burning down the rain forest, needing the land to build their new
    houses.

The new south pole is on the opposite side of where the new north
pole will be. If you take your globe and poke a stick through it,
beginning at Polo Norte, it will come out the other end at the
middle of the Spratly Islands, an area located between Vietnam and
Indonesia, which is mostly open water.

The Chinese are building artificial islands in that area, calling
the entire area part of China itself.

Those who own the poles will own the new world. That is why Brazil
and China will be the new kings of this place we call Earth.

This all happens the day after Christmas.

    Have a good one.

The Japanese have built a flagpole in the middle of the sea somewhere on an underwater rock. As the pole sticks above the water, they are claiming a 200NM EEZ around it.

Then I think the Russians sawed it off.

Then, I think, the Japanese built a concrete mound on that rock sticking out above the water and put a flag on it.

More interesting even. The Chileans once airlifted a very pregnant young lady to Teniente R. Marsh Airport on Antarctica and had her deliver her baby there so that "Location of birth:" would be "Villa Las Estrellas", the only civilian settlement on the continent thereby re-inforcing Chile's claims to mineral-rich territories. The kid's name? Juan Pablo Camacho Martino, So far, a total of three people have been born in the Chilean Bases but after signing the Antarctic minerals treaty this practice became obsolete.

    2010?
Or any number of climate-change "activists" and Hollywood celebrities who fly
around the world first-class in private jets and live in mansions?

Greta Thunberg had front-row seats at the Vatican. You know what
that means? She got to kiss the pope's hand! Imagine that! Used
her thumb to hitch a ride on a sailboat to America, then return to
Europe and be proclaimed a saint! By Pope Francis himself!

I kid you not. You understand I never lie. Just like Pinocchio.
In April she traveled to Rome, where she had baciamano tickets to
Pope Francis's general audience. Front row and got to kiss his
hand. And let me tell you, he kissed her back. Of course, only
me and Fabio know that, since we are the only folks in Fidonet
who speak Italian. You see, `baciamo' means "kiss the hand" -
    as every Italian-speaking believer knows.

Greta Thunberg and Pope Francis have one thing in common - Both have
been named TIME magazine's "Person of the Year". Vatican officials are
raving about this, and are hoping more young people like her take up
the cause to save our planet. That is why she is being proclaimed
    a living saint.

Its nice to see that silly young leader Greta of the
    climate-change-hysteria
movement really being true to her angry self with wanting to put
    politicians
"Up against the wall" and enjoying first-class train rides home. After
    all
its tough being a kid, definately exhausting being angry all the time.

Al Gore does not think it is silly. Pope Francis does not think it
is silly. TIME magazine does not think it is silly. Greta herself
does not think it is silly.

You claim she is angry. And maybe she is. Do you also claim that
Al Gore is angry? Or even Pope Francis? In my opinion, every person
on this planet should be angry. Angry that nothing is being done by
anybody of importance about climate change.

Here is some of what Greta Thunberg has said on the subject -

"Rich countries need to do their fair share and get down to real
zero emissions much faster and then help poorer countries do the
same so peope in less fortunate parts of the world can help solve
their living standards. Tell me how do you react to these numbers
without feeling at least some level of pain?"

Greta is talking to you ...

"How do you respond to the fact that basically nothing is being done
about this without feeling the slightest bit of anger and how do you communicate this without sounding alarmist? I would really like to
    know."

Please. Answer her question(s). If you dare.

I see first hand what is happening every day. The land is sinking
and the water is rising. Within the next twenty years, the land where
I grew up will be no more. It will all be under water. Much of it
already is. All this due to climate change.

Sure sounds to me that Greta is angry, given her own words, publicly
stated. This is not just angry emotional response, with no particular
target, but anger expressed at those who are causing the most harm.
She points her finger squarely at business and political leaders for
what she calls "clever accounting and creative PR" instead of doing
anything real to combat climate change, saying, "We indeed have some
work to do but some more than others."

See there? She blames herself (and others like her) for not doing
enough, but especially those who could and should do more. Far more.

Just like "global warming" which proceeded "climate change"... because
    the
former euphanism didn't attract enough panic. And before global warming,
    it
was the Amazon rain forests. And before that, the polar bears, the
    whales,
acid rain, radeon gas, Aerosol cans and the ozone layer... etc etc...

Climate change did not just happen. There had to be a trigger to
make it happen. That trigger is the upcoming pole shift. Of course,
the process is not yet complete. But it soon will be.

Scientists (and some politicians) are blaming it on climate change.
But that is a cover up from what is really happening. There is good
reason for this, as it would cause quite a panic if word got out
the end of the world is coming due to a future pole shift in which
very few people (if any) would survive. I mean, you are talking
about a true EXTINCTION LEVEL EVENT here ...

And all of this was proceeded by something in the early 80's I remember
    as a
young boy called "Global cooling". If we don't do something about global cooling, the earth will be frozen over by the mid to late 1990's.

The earth has never been "frozen over". The earth has undergone
a series of pole shifts. Every 13,000 years or so there is a pole
shift, and the ice caps that exist melt away as new ice caps are
    made.

It is a process. The magnetic north pole moves from Canada to
Siberia. Then other things happen. The last part is when the actual
    poles shift.

Brazil (near the beginning of the Amazon river) will be the new
north pole. The Spratley Islands (between Vietnam and Palawan in
the Philippines) will be the new south pole.

Wrap your head around that. And think about what things will be
like where you live now once that happens.

So which is it? Frozen planet doomsday nonsense of the 80's, Hot-as-hell planet doomsday nonsense of the 90's or present day planet doomsday "climate change" big sad-kitty-meme nonsense. Hard to decide which is funnier.

I live in the swamp. Within the next twenty years, probably far
sooner, it will all be open water. In which case the only place I
will have for a home will be my pirogue. That is what will happen
if the upcoming pole shift is a dud.

Once the pole shift happens, a giant tsunami will wipe out the
swamp and I will most likely not survive. In which case I might
never get the opportunity to become a full-fledged Fidonet sysop.

This event is expected to happen December 28, 2019, having begun
the Winter Solstice (December 21, 2019). OTOH, Nostradamus gives
us all more time, until October 2029.

Let's all pray he is right.

Environmental responsibility is one thing. Misguided hysteria is not a thing.

Nobody can stop the upcoming pole shift from happening.
Which means we are doomed. All doomed. Doomed, I tell you.
Doomed. Sooner, or later, we are all doomed.

Yeah, maybe you should look for some updated reports after the initial storm was over. During bad weather your sight is always a bit... limited.

The original twitter post was absolutely correct and did not contain any complaints against Deutsche Bahn (German Rail). The train with the booked seats was cancelled, and the train used instead was overcrowded. No surprise for anyone who travelled with DB during the last years, this happens all too frequently (maybe because the government turned DB into a private company supposed to make profit, who knows?).

However, the press department of DB managed to turn this into an epic PR desaster by patronizing and claims about the reserved 1st class seats, making it even look as if the photo posted with the first tweet was staged.
Actually, Greta and parts of her entourage simply got seats after changing trains somewhere in the middle of Germany.
Fun fact: As DB PR managed to insist on their view (showing that they didn't know about their own schedule and cancellations), they made various travel data available via twitter that are covered by data protection laws, and now they have the data protection officers at their heels.

All this is easily found on German news sites like here: https://www.spiegel.de/lebenundlernen/schule/greta-thunberg-und-die-deutsche-b ahn-wie-kann-man-das-so-verbocken-a-1301413.html

That story has been distorted and re-hashed a couple of times.

She (and her dad) went home by train and after a cancelled connection had no seat on the alternative.

The train-conductor recognized them and offered them unoccupied seats in the first class section. End of story ... but that story got a life of its own.

I consider it a non-event and just a Deutsche Bahn PR disaster..

It's a bit like in aviation and the overbooking of airplanes. People who are overbooked and have no seat will eventually be accomodated in First or Business. Have seen it happening all the time. First the frequent flyers get upgraded and if that is not enough to create space in coach-class, then the last-minute fares get to dine on real china.

That is not acting, but writing at its finest. Done all by herself.

Your amusing unfounded nonsense about the poles shifting is nowhere near amusing that the earth was supposed to be completely frozen-over, as per the doomsday prediction of the early 80's.

Oh, come now. You do not honestly believe that stuff, do you?
This planet has never been "frozen over" as per your claim. Not
since intelligent life has existed, anyway.

Mankind has a collective memory of no more than 12,000 to 13,000
years. If the planet had ever been "frozen over" during mankind's
existence, there would be no mankind. Nor would there be any other
animal life. Maybe a few microbes in the sea, assuming a portion
was not "frozen over". But that's about it.

We all know that mankind has been around for more than 13,000 years.
That means your little theory about some kind of a "frozen earth"
is total nonsense. There is, and never was, any such thing as an
    "ice age".

Or by 2020 global warming of the 90's was going to put the coastal cities underwater. Most of this was Al Gore-initiated nonsense. Al Gore also
    said
    Trump would never be president.

Al Gore is not psychic. I do not claim to be psychic, although
there may be some folks in the world who truly are. However, none
of this is dependent on whether one is or is not psychic.

The idea of the ice caps expanding and retreating is nonsense.
What is really happening is something else. The planet is losing
it's magnetism, as the magnetic poles are shifting from one place
to another. This will cause an axial shift, as well as the crust
    shifting or re-aligning.

For every silly climate hysteria of the day, theres always a pre-set doomsday period of about 10 years, 20, maybe 30. Just enough time for the hysterics to be long gone or moved on before anyone notices they've been climate-duped.

    Hello Ward,

On the opposite side of the globe is the Spratly Islands. These
islands are uninhabited, as they are mere rocks in the middle of
nowhere. But the Chinese are building many artificial islands
in that area, claiming the entire area as being part of China.

The Japanese have built a flagpole in the middle of the sea somewhere on
    an
underwater rock. As the pole sticks above the water, they are claiming a 200NM EEZ around it.

The Americans claim to have planted several US flags on the surface
of the Moon, on barren rock in the middle of nowhere, claiming it all
    as their own.

Then I think the Russians sawed it off.

Russians claim the Moon is a spaceship, based on NASA evidence.

Then, I think, the Japanese built a concrete mound on that rock sticking
    out
above the water and put a flag on it.

Sicilians wear cement shoes when they dive into a body of water,
never needing to come up again for air.

More interesting even. The Chileans once airlifted a very pregnant young lady to Teniente R. Marsh Airport on Antarctica and had her deliver her baby there so that "Location of birth:" would be "Villa Las Estrellas",
    the
only civilian settlement on the continent thereby re-inforcing Chile's claims to mineral-rich territories. The kid's name? Juan Pablo Camacho Martino, So far, a total of three people have been born in the Chilean Bases but after signing the Antarctic minerals treaty this practice
    became
    obsolete.

But has anybody ever had sex in space? NASA did send a married
couple on board a mission on the space shuttle. But would neither
confirm nor deny if the couple did anything beyond their duties.

Which brings up the question as to how a couple has sex in space.
Being in a weightless environment, it seems like a couple would
need some help in order to fully achieve the desired outcome ...

    Hello David,

be long gone or moved on before anyone notices they've been
    climate-duped.

    Nick

Thanks Nick, couldn't have said it better myself. :-)

When in doubt, follow the money ...

The fact that someone is trying to make money out of something does not
    stop
    that something from existing.

When is making money more important than people's lives?

In south Louisiana, we see climate change every day. The
land is sinking and the water is rising. Places that existed
just a few years ago no longer exist today. Including many
parts of the swamp, which now is open water with no land around
to build anything so much as even a shack.

I can no longer go hunting and trapping in those parts.
No animals around as it is now all open water. And the
fishing is just as bad, unless you really know where and
how to get where you want to go.

Oil companies have built a pipeline through the Atchafalaya
Basin. A few leaks have already happened, although nothing yet
on a grand scale. The Atchafalaya Basin is a swamp 50 miles
wide and 150 miles long. Much bigger place than where Pogo
grew up, making the Okefenokee Swamp look small.

You think the BP disaster in the Gulf of Mexico was bad?
You ain't seen nothin' yet. A spill in the Atchafalaya Basin
would be impossible to clean up. An environmental disaster
on a global scale, so huge as to be unimagineable. And yet
it will happen. With no company being punished for its own
    recklessness and irresponsibility.

Oil companies have built canals through the swamps so they
can get to their oil wells more efficiently. The canals destroy
land and vegetation that is needed to keep the water at bay.
Over half of the land that existed when I was a kid no longer
exist. Within 20 to 30 years, there will be no longer any
land, except perhaps 10 percent of what once was.

By the year 2050, if not sooner, the city of New Orleans
will no longer exist. The same with the city of Miami. And
    many other coastal cities.

Climate change is real. Very real. Especially for those
who are experiencing it, in real time.

California is burning. So is Australia. How many animals
have been lost in those fires? Well over a billion. And yet,
there are those who still claim climate change is all a hoax.

    May kangaroos RIP.
    May koalas RIP.

The animals of this world deserve better.

The world will end, one day, not because of the climate but because the WD>sun will end in a super-nova.

    No...it won't!

The Sun isn't close to the amount of solar mass it takes to cause a star to even go nova....much less `super' nova.

When the time comes for the Sun to go through its end-life it will swell into
a red giant. After its red giant stage, it will collapse into a small white dwarf.

When it goes into its red giant stage it will swell out to engulf Mercury, Venus, and maybe even Earth.

Right now the Sun is considered a `yellow dwarf'; a `G' type star.

    Here's a good one......

Many years ago I lived near a desert town in Arizona called `Dragoon'.

It's in eastern Arizona about 70 miles above Mexico and around 40 miles from the New Mexico border.

The Apache Cochise had one of his strongholds just south of there.

When I first started living there I spent a lot of time wandering around on
the desert. There are lots of `dry washes' all over the place. And although
the term `dry wash' sounds rather benign....it isn't!

Because at certain times of the year...without warning a mass of water can appear and `wash' everything or `body' away in a flash! It can be unreal at times!

    Something I noticed almost right away in my meanderings on the desert;

Here and there you come across pieces of rock with imprints of sea shells embedded on them. Or even petrified sea shells laying about in the sand.

Now Dragoon Arizona is around 650 miles from any ocean, and around five or six thousand feet above sea level.

Which raises the question: How did ancient fossilized sea shells and imprints of small sea creatures come to be there?

The only answer that suggests itself is that, at one time, this area was covered with ocean.

    When?

Probably back so long ago Humankind has no memory of it.

When a `scientist' comes up and says ....'well....the globe is heating up and we need to make a study to find out why'! And the `study' is gonna cost some millions of dollars....ok....here's the money do the `study'.

Next year that scientist (along with a few other `scientists') comes back and says;...'well....its sort of hard to really tell anything from that small of a `study'.....we need to `study' a bit further. Oh and by the way...its gonna cost a little more. Now its gonna cost several million more than it did last time. I'm a little skeptical......but ok....here's the money.

Next year there are even MORE `scientists' added TO the group and now the `study' needs to be expanded because they're getting `close to an answer'! BTW ....its gonna cost a little more money.

    Now I'm getting downright suspicious.

The fires taking place in Australia right now I sincerely hope are brought under control soon.

I see extreme hatred aimed at your Prime Minister over this. As in `he saw
    this coming'!

Not knowing what sort of forest management is practiced there (clearing dead trees, dead brush, etc etc) its hard to make any sort of call on conditions existing that contribute to fires being uncontrollable. If proper brush and dead tree maintainence isn't the norm, dangerous wild fires shouldn't be any surprise.

But...you have to wonder how much of the latest fires are actually caused by humans.

There are people who should never be allowed to leave their house with any
sort of devise that could start a fire; like a book of matches or a cigarette lighter....they just don't have the human sense to use them responsibly.

Other people get a kick out of starting fires.

But this wild fire thing isn't something Australia has never had happen until `climate change' came along....

`Dry lightning' is spoken of....but there are also people ignoring fire bans.

I suspect that if you went back in history far enough you'd find that fires like this are pretty common (relatively speaking). Modern Humans just haven't been around long enough to know that.

`Global warming' has nothing to do with it. The planet's ecology does this all the time.

When that hysteria fails to catch on, something else is whipped up. Global cooling, acid rain, the Amazon rainforests, humpback whales, global warming, and now....... tada, "climate change".

A generic euphemism that could mean anything. It sounds less nerdish than global cooling or warming, and can encompass/justify worrying about the icecaps, summer, winter, spring, fall, whales, the rainforests, bush fires, capitalism (for some reason), my hairy ass, anything. Because climate change.

Qualified enough to spot your inherent comprehension problem. You can have

Just like its an authoritarian response to hide behind religion and bible quotes when asked about gay marriage or abortion. The person doesn't give a logical answer, just one that aligns with their belief that God is absolute.

high on IQ testing but can fuck up a simple cup of coffee.

Which has nothing to do with what we are talking about here.
A couple of years ago I read an article about someone who claimed to have found the solution for all energy problems we have. Some simple, cheap source of energy that would solve all kinds of problems of mankind. Strangely, I never heard of that guy again. He even had a degree, he was a physician.

Just change the sides in that story:
An engineer or physicist claims to have found a cure for all kinds of illnesses other people failed to find over decades. Cure for cancer, HIV, SARS, all at the same time. Cheap and easy. Would you believe that? Would you let someone like that treat your illnesses? I wouldn't even buy the story if the claim came from a physician. Not without a /detailed/ proof.

That's how science works: people making extraordinary claims need to proof them. If your opinion contradicts 90+% of the scientists working on the field worldwide, you'd better be prepared with some better answers than "persuation" and "bought studies" conspiration theories. Otherwise you just proof yourself to be a crackpot.

You assume that I must believe and recognize your definition of
    authority or
    qualification.

No. However, it would be nice to accept that there are people who know more than you do.
You say you know better than people wordwide working professionally on the subject. I'm laughing my ass off, why should anyone take /you/ serious? I get crackpot mail often enough, from people who "proved" that "scientists all over the world" have it "terribly wrong" in general relativity, nuclear fusion, electrodynamics, free energy, the universerse as a whole, whatever.
I don't care. People claiming extraordinary things that are in contradiction to the vast majority of the views of people who work professionally on the subject have to give proof for their claims. Otherwise they're simply... crackpots.

That I must believe that a scientist can never be paid
    by
corporations or persuaded by politicians to do studies biased in
    their
favour. To believe without question that climate science is never
    wrong?

You can believe whatever you want. How likely do you think it is that 90+% of the scientists in that field all over the world got bought or persuaded? Just imagine, there are people outside the US and Canada working on this, people who don't care at all about Al Gore or George Soros.
On the other side, how likely may it be that you don't want to accept a reality that has uncomfortable consequences for you?

I then asked for your scientific qualification. You said, "Doesn't matter".

Indeed, it doesn't matter at all in this context, and I'm too old for having fun in cock comparisons.
You came up with the extraordinary claims, so it's your turn to proof. The scientific consensus is quite clear, and you can look it up in so many places, I'll just give two examples here: https://climate.nasa.gov/scientific-consensus/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_consensus_on_climate_change

Thats why you're being rediculed. I'm consistant with what I believe
    in,

    takes you.

I don't feel ridiculed at all. I said you were trying to ridicule people. Not very successfully, but keep on trying, maybe you get somewhere one day.
Your believes don't matter to me at all in this context, believes belong into a church of some kind.
BTW: football goal-posts are pretty much unmovable around here where I live...

There is nothing quite like it. Imitating him would be a futile effort on my part; or I would likely start owing him royalty payments.

Instead I'll just politely and very happily say that I do not care jack-shit about climate science, climate scientists, climate Hollywood celebrities, climate princess Greta, rising sea-levels, its two degrees hotter or colder this year than it was last year, etc. Nobody needs a scientist to proclaim what we already know, that mankind is fucked "by design". We cannot look after eachother and we engage in wars, starvation, corruption, yet I'm supposed to put my hope in that mankind can stop the planet-doomsday currently underway.

I tend to live life as if every day is my last, and I question everything and anything. Life is too short for endless worry and pointless activism.

Most climate-change nutjobs just want to wave a magic hippie wand and poof... the world will be a nice utopia where we hold hands and sing Kumbaya. And for what? Nick is expressing a nihilist viewpoint, which is shared by many.
Your viewpoint is different, and hardly nihilistic.

I find it boring to be in a group in which everybody believes in
the same thing, as if in a cult. I would most likely leave within
minutes, if not sooner. Unless I find it amusing just to sit and
watch. Or poke fun hoping to get tossed out the room.

At one point from my American friends I learned that opinions are like an arse-hole ... everybody has one.

I learned later that some can be an entire arse-hole.

I think his opinion is wrong, but it's his opinion, not mine.

Why is it wrong? Many people believe the same as Nick.
They may be misguided, but that is a far cry from being wrong.

You could also tell him "Go get a life", but as it turns-out, that's just what he's trying to accomplish.

In regards to fixing the problems caused by climate change,
a nihilist would say "Why bother?" Which is exactly what Nick
is doing. Now. How is that accomplishing anything?

    Enjoy the week-end,

    Enjoy your beer.

    Hello Nick,

So I ask you for the third time: what is your scientific qualification?

Qualified enough to spot your inherent comprehension problem. You can
    have
a degree in something but that does not necessarily mean you know
    everything
on the subject. That is an authoritarian response to assume that a degree proves absolute knowledge or even qualification.

Just like its an authoritarian response to hide behind religion and bible quotes when asked about gay marriage or abortion. The person doesn't give logical answer, just one that aligns with their belief that God is
    absolute.

I have met people and have extended family-connection with those who are extremely high functioning with university degrees and "qualification" in your
view, but they cannot parallel-park their car or spot a Microsoft scam or cook a meal to feed themselves if their life depended on it. They can
    score
high on IQ testing but can fuck up a simple cup of coffee.

You assume that I must believe and recognize your definition of authority
    or
qualification. That I must believe that a scientist can never be paid by corporations or persuaded by politicians to do studies biased in their favour. To believe without question that climate science is never wrong?

I then asked for your scientific qualification. You said, "Doesn't
    matter".

Thats why you're being rediculed. I'm consistant with what I believe in, you're busy moving the football goal-posts to wherever your belief takes you.

    "What is your scientific qualification?"

By your answer, as stated above, you are a nihilist.

Oh, how I love to keep it simple. :)

"The idea of manmade global warming is a hoax that was invented."

That is what you believe, given your own statements in this thread.

But that's okay. Some 17% of the people in the USA agree with

Now, that is quite an accomplishment for the Z1C to express such a

    Hello Ward,

Which is why you have no idea as to what you are talking about.

I hardly agree with myself. So perhaps that is a *good* thing.

Why is it wrong? Many people believe the same as Nick.

Try reading the writings of Michiel van der Vlist once in a while, love'm

    knowing",
it is "accepting without proof", anything which science is not because if you "don't know" it "isn't science".

We live in a world of doubt.
We must doubt to believe, and can never know.
I have expressed that philosophy many times.
It is a truth for those who believe, and also
for those who do not believe.
But it remains belief, not knowledge,
that makes us who and what we are.

The best we can do is come up with a theory of probability.
Not of absolutes. Nothing is ever truly black and white.

"I believe in God" is a belief.
"I know God exists" is a statement of lunacy.

Politicians make many statements that are false.
And yet, millions believe what they say.
Even if verified facts contradict what they have said.

People believe whatever they want to believe.
Whether that something is true or not.

An atheist/agnostic professes not to believe in a god.
That, in itself, is a belief.
Not actual knowledge of the existence or non-existence of a god.

Jesus did not believe in God.

And yet many people worship him as a god.

"Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father!" ~Jesus (Jn 14:6-9)

Was he who he claimed to be?

"The Father and I are one!" ~Jesus (Jn 10:30-33)

Sure. Ideally, this is left to a different set of people, just to make sure. That's exactly why things that are already in the scientific consensus cannot be brushed aside with some wild conspiration theory claims anymore: the number of scientists, working groups, scientific organisations, countires etc. supporting this consensus already provides a huge amount of checks and replications.

You don't have to be a `scientist' to know that, in the 4-point-something billion-year existance of the planet Earth. the climate has been `changing' throughout that entire time.

    Little-known or ignored fact:

Al Gore is neither a climatologist, nor a scientist, nor even a half-way

(Speaking of Al Gore....not only did he become a millionaire waving the
`global warming' flag (while preaching on `wind farms, solar panels, turning the heat down in winter...using less power in summer, etc etc...) he owned homes that used the same or more amount of electricity in one year as a small town! He preached about others ruining the environment with heavy cars and SUV's....and travelled to and from `climate' rallies and speeches in a private jet!)

The thing I learned when this whole thing about `global warming' started up was; follow the money!

And when the `global warming' thing began to come apart due to temperatures
not getting blistering hot as predicted....in fact started going the other way....the scare then became *climaate change*!

But its no different; follow the money! Always follow the money.

    See you... not.

What are Greta Thunberg's qualifications? How old is she? 16? 17? What

I have been an amateur astronomer for going on almost 40 years. I've studied many things related to astronomy and astrophysics during that time.

I have no degree in science of any kind.

    BUT!

You don't have to be a `scientist' to wonder why the government pours taxpayer money into all these `climate-study' programs....but all we're told is; we
need to do more `studying'....and it's going to take more `money'!

I was suspicious after awhile when I saw people making whole careers! from taxpayer money being poured into these `global warming' studies.

Then.....the East Anglia University Climate Research Unit E-mails hit the fan!

Then....Mann's `Hockey Stick' graph was debunked!

Then....suddenly....when the `global warming' scam becme more and more
exposed; data being `doctored' to try to make it fit `predictions'.

Temperature equipment being located in `heat-sink' areas to `detect' the `global warming' in action.

Then...when the `global warming' mantra was beginning to look a little
silly... they switched to `climate change'. The shift from the one to the next was very smooth. A large number of the masses didn't even notice how `warming' disappeared and `change' slipped smoothly into place.

It was (and still is) one of the biggest frauds since Humphrey J. Flack! (With apologies to Alan Mowbrey)

You don't have to be a `scientist' in a hospital to know when you're being scammed.

That depends on how obvious the scamming attempt is and how your personal background is. If you go to hospital because of a cancer diagnosis, would you tell the doctor that you know better?

You don't have to be a `scientist' to know that, in the
    4-point-something
billion-year existance of the planet Earth. the climate has been `changing'
    throughout that entire time.

    Nobody doubts that.

The species MAN hasn't been in existence as an organized civilization long
enough to really have a realistic timeline of climate change
    world-wide.

That's what the scientific consensus is seeing in a different light: Most of what we saw changing in the last say 100 years is manmade.

The thing I learned when this whole thing about `global warming'

White noise doen't help to fix the effects of climate change, it just confuses people and nothing happens.

If practical ideas were properly discussed and feasible then they might actually be implemented but the white noise doesn't help.

Voters are concerned about climate change until an election then they are more concerned about money in their pocket and jobs, their health etc.
