• King of Fido

From Lee Lofaso@2:203/2 to All on Mon Oct 7 22:00:12 2019
    Hello Everybody,

Fabio Bizzo has declared himself as being the new King of Fido.
He us seeking to become lord and master over all systems, both yours
and mine, to do as he so pleases. He will be The Decider. The one
who decides what gets to be seen, and unseen, despite what anybody
    else might want to say.

Not even an IC (if ever there could be one) would be able to defy
the rule of the new King of Fido, since such a ruler would be totally
out of control - even by his own self.

Such creatures should not exist in Fidonet. After all, Fidonet
is supposed to be a *free* association of sysops (and non-sysops)
    from around the world.

There is nothing free in the withholding of information that is
meant to be shared with others.

Fabio Bizzo is a clown. A clown whose deepest desire is to destroy
Fidonet, the same as a small handful of sysops (who will not be named)
    once did.

His actions should be condemned by all.

    Fabio's own words -

Nowhere in your documentation you specify if this filters messages
only before importing them into the messagebase or also on
forwarded messages, essentially censoring feeds for downlinks of
the system where this filter is used?

I supposed that who'll uses the filter knows how works hpt, anyway
your observation is right, I'll update the documentation as soon as FB>possible. :)

To answer to your question, filters in hpt work before that the
message is put in the message base so if you kill/move the message
and the base has nodes linked the message will not forwarded.

But keep in mind that hpt is used also in point systems. :)

    Many thanks.

    Hello Karel,

Fabio Bizzo is a clown. A clown whose deepest desire is to destroy
Fidonet, the same as a small handful of sysops (who will not be named)
    once did.

I am clow as well. Deleting your messages all the time. If I must pay incoming packets, I do not pay storage.

Aha! Giving that old middle finger a good workout! What a guy!

Everybody has its uplink. Do not understand why yours is still hesitating
    to
    cut your offensive messages.

Offensive messages? Let me tell you something buster -

"Censorship is to art as lynching is to justice." ~Henry Louis Gates

There is nothing admirable about silencing a human being.

As Voltaire once said, "A witty saying proves nothing."

And you claim my messages are offensive? I certainly hope so!

"Censorship reflects society's lack of confidence in itself.
It is a hallmark of an authoritarian regime." ~Potter Stewart

Freedom of speech and expression is the mark of an open society.
So what does it say you? A sysop whose fondest wish being to put
limits on what can and cannot be said? Is the problem with the
outrageous (or what you claim to be offensive) statements? Or the
small handful of sysops in Fidonet who cannot accept the presence
of trolls and their "offensive" messages in the first place?

Do you need somebody to tell you what to do?

Most children have outgrown their desire to play Simon Says.

But I reckon some sysops never will.

    How sad.

Freedom of speech and expression is the mark of an open society.

There are limits to free speech and you have crossed these multiple times.

Your freedom ends where mine begins and when some of the most enjoyable people that remain in Fidonet tell me they are intending to close their node just because they had their fill of you then I guess the moment for action is near.

I'm not the only ZC who's had his belly full of your interventions and I can imagine that certain individuals become annoyed enough to take action. As you have no Fidonet presence, not against you but against the entity which provides you this unrestricted forum without the slightest respect by you for how others are affected by this.

Of course, this message again will spark a torrent of blabberings which I will completely ignore.

    Hello Ward,

Freedom of speech and expression is the mark of an open society.

There are limits to free speech and you have crossed these multiple
    times.

Use the <N>ext key, Luke. It is part of your unlimited free speech.

Your freedom ends where mine begins and when some of the most enjoyable people that remain in Fidonet tell me they are intending to close their node just because they had their fill of you then I guess the moment for action is near.

"My definition of a free society is a society where it is safe to
    be unpopular." ~Adlai Stevenson

Such is the beauty of unlimited free speech. Adlai loved it so much
he became a two-time loser to Dwight Eisenhower. But in the end he
won, never having to apologize for lying to the American people.

You do remember the Gary Powers incident? It truly shocked the
American people. At least at the time. Finding out their president
    was a bald-faced liar.

I wonder what that says about you? And your fellow sysops who seek
to run out of town anybody who disagrees with your (plural) POV?

It certainly makes for a smaller Fidonet. Much smaller. With fewer
and fewer sysops and sysop wannabes wanting to play your silly games.

I'm not the only ZC who's had his belly full of your interventions and I
    can
imagine that certain individuals become annoyed enough to take action. As you have no Fidonet presence, not against you but against the entity
    which
provides you this unrestricted forum without the slightest respect by you for how others are affected by this.

Then leave. Nobody is stopping you. Don't just talk about it.
    Do it!

"Patterning your life around other's opinions is nothing more than
    slavery." ~Lawana Blackwell

Time for you to man up and quit being a horse's ass! You claim
you are fed up. And yet you whine like a small child crying to his
mommy. If you don't like it here, leave!

Build your own little pigpen, and invite your playmates to join you!
That would work just fine! And I promise not to join your pigsty!

However, this is Fidonet. Where unlimited free speech rules ...

Of course, this message again will spark a torrent of blabberings which I will completely ignore.

And yet you still can't figure out how to use the <N>ext key.
OTOH, maybe it's broken and nobody knows how to fix it ...

As my fortune cookie once said "Interesting times lie ahead".

I cannot help you, for I am just a cookie.

    Janis,
maybe others that were involved with the zone-wars.

I have been here long enough to experience those. I take offence at the would be power lords who think others must behave to fit the power lords' standards.

And yes, I think people should fit with my standards where my standards say "stop trying to impose your (generic) standards on others".

    Live and let live.

You are nowhere near being a troll; yet you mostly reply in what could be considered a douchbaggery tone. I'll bet you are not like that in person.

I try to live up to my rep.

Do we need more supply of sheep jokes?

If you know some I've not already heard in the last (nearly) 40 years living in this land.

    Hello David,

Your freedom ends where mine begins. I do not want to pay your messages
    whe
you are offending people, crossposting, etc.

If I want to read that, I join different network.

Many Sysops already have left Fidonet for better networks with far
    better
quality of conversation. Fsxnet, Scinet, etc. Those Othernets are
    communities
of Sysops who respect eachother. There are no trolls because there would
never be a logical reason for someone to start trolling.

The grass is always greener in the other pasture.

Why are you here if you're finding this grass too brown?

    Not particularly.

Have you never gazed into an alpaca's eyes?

I'm going to take a guess that the original intention is that being excessively annoying and being excessively annoyed are supposed to cancel
each other out, and we're supposed to calm the F down and realize that this
is just a hobby involving electrons.

As long as you stay at the eyeball end she should be OK.

Then again, did you know that alpaca have no top teeth at the front of their mouths?

    And beautiful eyes....
