• Bankruptcy

From Lee Lofaso@2:203/2 to All on Fri Aug 16 02:09:06 2019
    Hello Everybody,

Declaring bankruptcy is easy. All one has to do is say
the magic words. But what if the US President says it, speaking
for the entire USA? Imagine what would happen next.

That is exactly what US President Donald Trump said at a rally
in New Hampshire. If he loses his bid for a second term, he will
tank the economy and declare the USA as bankrupt. Thus leaving
us all with no choice but to elect him to a second term.

I hope my pirogue can make it past the Gulf of Mexico, and
across the Atlantic Ocean, through the Straits of Gibralter,
and to the shores of Italy, without sinking.

Once I get there, assuming I make it, me and Fabio will be neighbors.

Not to worry. In two weeks US President Donald Trump will be
in Denmark to buy Greenland, and then declare himself King so he
will not have to go to jail when his term ends in the USA.

Denmark, now that the Danish dismissed him as the crazy person that he is -- imagining that he actually could buy Greenland.

He knows his days are numbered. With his hopes for winning a second
term diminishing with each passing day, he will continue trying to
change the subject by doing or announcing some outlandish thing.

His second in charge (Mike Pence) is inept, and unable to rally
the troops for any cause, even if it would be his own self running
    for prez.

What is his party expected to do? Go down with the ship?

Italy's government has collapsed. But that is normal, or has been,
since the end of WWII. This is the USA. With a president who is
clearly out of his ever-loving mind. And I thought Reagan was bad,
    with early onset alzheimer's.

The British Prime Minister has been told where to go by the EU.
But that too, is normal. After all, the PM does look a bit like
    the loon in DC.

Now we have former Speaker Paul Ryan is returning to DC. And not
to play second fiddle to a washed up businessman who still thinks
    he is a billionaire.

I really should not have been surprised to find our dear leader had
to pay for sex. Quite unlike most (if not all) of his predecessors.
But maybe that is the problem. He can no longer pay anybody to do
    what he wants.

Something is up, with the president's approval ratings in the tank
(the lowest of any president since at least 1938 at this point of any administration. From FDR through Barack Obama, each had an approval
rating of 53% at this point in their administration. What does this
one have? 41%, and on a downward spiral.

At his last rally in New Hampshire he had to find people to fill
the empty seats. So he invited workers at a nearby Shell Oil plant
to attend. What the president's press secretary failed to mention
was that they were paid overtime as an incentive.

People all over are losing interest in anything he says or has to say.
Nobody is paying attention anymore. I mention his name to who used to
be hardcore supporters, and now all they do is yawn.

It doesn't matter who the Democrats nominate for president.
It is all over except for the fat lady singing. And trust me
when I tell you, she is warming up.

I'm not too sure. Even the US farmers, that are the the biggest losers in Trump's trade war on China, are still on his side -- hoping for the billions of taxpayer's dollars that he has promised them as compensation.

For a nation so anal about not letting the government pay for anything, it sure looks like there's something rotten in the state of the USA.

Someone so stupid that he defends 50,000 coal miners' jobs against 500,000 solar panel jobs should not be able to convince even a minority of his voters. But obviously he still can.

    Stupid is as stupid does.

Subsidizing farmers, sounds like a socialist thing to me...

Yes. And typical for the EU, that spends almost half of it's budget on it. 1985 it was 73% of the total budget, so at least it's not so crazy any more. I think it's slightly less than 40% now...

Farmers income was half of what it used to be in 2013, which is what
gave Trump an opening to gain their support in his bid to win election. However, since taking office he has done nothing to help farmers, and
has even made matters worse (not just due to his tariff/trade war).

Even the US farmers, that are the the biggest losers in Trump's trade war
    on
China, are still on his side -- hoping for the billions of taxpayer's dollars that he has promised them as compensation.

Farmers cannot sell soybeans to China due to Trump's imbecilic trade
war with China, but there are many other countries the US trades with. Especally Mexico. But when US exports are down with Mexico, having
nothing to do with tariffs or a trade war, you know something is most definitely wrong in Trumpland. Farmers are now having to take out
loans, just to stay in business, which means Trump will no longer be
able to count them among his most loyal supporters.

If you were a farmer, would you support a politician who promises
you the moon but gives you nothing?

For a nation so anal about not letting the government pay for anything,
    it
sure looks like there's something rotten in the state of the USA.

The USA has a fetish for being a pimp for "national" defense.
It also has a fetish for selling wares to the world's arm bazaar.
But perhaps that is due to what the USA does best. And you know
how much we love our guns.

Someone so stupid that he defends 50,000 coal miners' jobs against
    500,000
solar panel jobs should not be able to convince even a minority of his voters. But obviously he still can.

Solar panels are dirty, and cause fires. That is why Wal*Mart
is suing, demanding fossil fuels be used for everything. So let's
bring back those coal-burning stoves and see how long we can keep
ourselves from freezing in the wintertime, or suffocating in the
    summertime.

    Stupid is as stupid does.

I have never called Donald J. Trump stupid.

He was smart enough to outwit 17 others to get the gig.

Although I must admit he was kind of dumb by choosing not to
accept a paycheck for his trouble.
