    Hello Everybody,

Why do some folks insist that all participants
use their real names in posting messages? This
clearly makes no sense, especially in today's
world, where doxxing and harrassment and many
    other evils are common.

    Here is Facebook's version -

"The use of authentic names on Facebook protects
people's privacy and safety by ensuring people know
who they're sharing and connecting with."

    What a load of crock!

While at first glance, Facebook's policy might
seem like common sense. But think about how easy
it would be for others with ill intent to find
your posts and use it for nefarious purposes.

True online anonymity is difficult, if not impossible,
to achieve and takes an awful lot more time than not.
    Think about it.

To be anonymous you would have to be sure to cover
all your bases. Such as obscuring your location,
indluding IP address, router paths, and embedded
location date. And maybe even your writing style.
    As well as your personality.

Labeling yourself "anonymous" is really just another
pseudonym, the same rule about it eroding over time.
The more you use it, the more other folks figure out
    who you are.

That is why truly anonymous posts have no technical
and or logical connection to any other anonymous post
    by that same person.

Yeah. There is a solution to this fine mess -

Use your real name as a pseudonym on FidoNet.
    Just thought I'd mention that.
