I don't think there is a fido requirement to look pretty. ;)

But since a command symbol would need to be entered 4 times, a key that doesn't require SHIFTing or ALTing would be nice. See picture.

Ah.. but that is in the 2nd or sub-layer virtual keyboard, right? My BB has a SYM buttom that takes me to 1 of 2 virtual keyboards that offer symbols. I could live with that.

Mostly, yes. I have a Fn button that takes me to a 2nd screen on the keyboard with those symbols and F keys, etc. I prefer it to the standard Google Keyboard.

Yes.. the articles that you shared from the internet did not
look 100% readable on the fido side.

You didn't post them knowing that they would render conversion
anomalies. Some of us just pointed out the problem.

Most of the time the problem is just the opening and closing
designs of the single and double quotes and the double-dash/
    em-dash.

Maybe someone has come up with a solution for converting all
of those in a tool - infact, there may already be a prog that
    I use that works.

Let me try a copy/paste of a paragraph from one of the
articles that did not look pretty:

    -=test start=-

Brown notes that the putative ninth planet-at 5,000 times the
mass of Pluto-is sufficiently large that there should be no
debate about whether it is a true planet. Unlike the class of
smaller objects now known as dwarf planets, Planet Nine
gravitationally dominates its neighborhood of the solar
system. In fact, it dominates a region larger than any of the
other known planets-a fact that Brown says makes it "the most
planet-y of the planets in the whole solar system."

The first possibility they investigated was that perhaps there
are enough distant Kuiper Belt objects-some of which have not
yet been discovered-to exert the gravity needed to keep that
    subpopulation clustered together.

    -=test end=-

Wow. All the quotes were automatically converted to " and the
em-dash was converted to a single dash.

OpenXP seems to handle that just fine. ;)

Another tool that does the clean-up nicely is
ReformatorQuoter, but it's a Windows prog.

I would imagine that there HAS to be something similar for
    linux/android.

The thing is, you can't sau "Fido side" as a blanket statement. I am posting from Fido, using Fido software, and did not see the issues which others
pointed out. My posts looked fine to me. whether I was posting from HotdogEd
a native Android program, or now in Mystic, under a Termux window running as Raspberry Pi vversiion of Linux and Mystic BBS.

There's something, somewhere that's borking the conversion with the messages going out. Probably like Wilfred mentioned, lacking a Kludge somewhere.
