What kind of sick b*****d are you?

Please stick to the nomenclature used by the WHO. https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019

And please also OBEY the rules that help to preserve life by flattening the curve so that the health systems has a chance to cope with the serious cases!

In some countries (namely UK, USA, and early China) the political reaction was catastrophic.
Those countries lost a lot of time and they will massively pay the price with human lifes.

    http://tiny.cc/737nlz

On the other hand later China and Soth Korea did a remarkable good job in slowing the outbreak!

Also thanks to science even those countries with scientifically illiterate leaders (and illiterate advisors) have now started to implement measures.
But they come VERY late and WILL have a cost in lost human life.

Please explain why referring to the COVID-19 virus by its country or area of origin ("Chinese Coronavirus", "Wuhan Coronavirus") is racist, but calling the 2012 novel coronavirus outbreak the "Middle East respiratory syndrome," or MERS, or MERS-CoV, after its area of origin, is not racist.

My brain is switched on, and I cannot see a difference. Even the WHO and US CDC commonly refer to the 2012 novel coronavirus as MERS.

If you have money coming in to prop up other areas of your economy, national defense, etc., it is a lot easier to spend money on other things. I am inferring that, without these things, there would only be one Korea and that would be a Korea controlled by the leadership of the North. North Korea is not

How come you didn't give that same lecture to Janis?

Honest answer ... because I skip over Fidogazette messages because they do not contain any interesting information for me for a long time.
    So I just skip them.

I reread it now, and have to agree that it tends to be the same direction.
BUT in this particular case I can kind of understand it.

The POTUS reacted in a very, very bad way. (which translates to lost lifes in the USA)
    https://tinyurl.com/utaucpm

Also the disbanding of the White House's pandemic team was a very, very bad move.

Also this has nothing to do with right/left.
It is about scientific facts that have been known for a very long time, and the question how politics reacts to them.

It starts being racist if this term is only used in one country (see the WHO page for the official nomenclature), and is invented to distract from the lack of effective measures taken by the leader of said country.

    See mail to Dan.

But please focus on the important things!
How can you slow down the pandemic, and how can you explain the SERIOUSNESS of the situation to people without causing unnecessary panic.

Telling people that there are just a few cases and that in the near future those cases will be down to 0 (contrary to ALL predictions of scientists) is a very, very dumb move.

Telling all people to go to work/school is even worse.
The less interaction is the less people can get infected, the slower the spread is.
If the spread is slowed down enough then countries with developed health systems have a chance to cope with the serious cases (between 3% and 0.7%).
In that case the number of deaths will be minimized.
Otherwise many, many more people will die because there are simply not enough ICU available to save the lifes of many citizens!

It has been weeks since I have seen anyone official downplay the potential

As for what you told Dan, the term "Wuhan coronavirus" is not being

MERS is not old enough to be that distant in the past. My reasoning has nothing to do with racism. It has everything to do with "we need to
remember where this started because the Chinese government did not learn
their lesson the last time and, if the World does not keep on them about
their practices, they will continue and this will happen again and again..."

Here are some good links, including one where a professor of Chinese descent
is interviewed, and another that includes interviews with actual Chinese people. There seems to be little doubt that they could have prevented this
if they'd not gone right back to doing what they were doing in 2003 when
that outbreak happend. There is also no doubt there was a Chinese government cover up. They persecuted the whistleblower doctor, destroyed initial testing evidence, and still today are trying to deflect the blame for their actions onto others:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPpoJGYlW54

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/11/coronavirus-wuhan-doctor-ai-fen- speaks-out-against-authorities

None of those make it sound like the Chinese government has learned their lesson and won't go right back to doing what they were doing before.

That last one is a real good one. Note that it is not called "if Donald
Trump was smarter, 95% of infections could have been prevented." All the people who are sick or dead are so because the CHINESE GOVERNMENT covered
it up. All this disruption that all of us are having to go through is because the CHINESE GOVERNMENT covered it up. If they weren't worried about saving
face or keeping an industry going that allows rich, influential Chinese to
eat exotic and endangered animals, NONE of this would be happening.

Calling it a "Trump pandemic" like you do is much more misleading than "Wuhan coronavirus." Again, 95% OF INFECTIONS COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED if China
had not swept it under the rug for a month or more. For their actions, they deserve to have it called "Chinese Government Cover-Up Coronoavirus."

If we all forget where this started, the Chinese government will just keep allowing these practices, and in a few years we will all be on lockdown
again, assuming it does not kill us.

I think you need to educate yourself about what caused this, and how it was covered up, before crying "racism" at something that triggers you. Unless,
of course, you are intentially acting as a mouthpiece for the Chinese government or enjoy doing so by accident. In that case I guess you can
explain to me how the Chinese people interviewed are racist against their
own people, or something equally as silly.

Come on, we all know that the virus was most likely created in a Chinese lab to bring down the government of the US and the rest of the western world. Are you sure what happened in Wuhan was really real - maybe it was all fake and Chinese propaganda. Maybe nobody died in China by the virus. Why do you think they locked everyone up in their home and isolated everyone from their family who was tested "positive"? Or maybe they sacrificed a few thousand people for letting the virus spread for a while in order to become a pandemic. And now people in the western world are brainwashed with Chinese propaganda and blaming Trump for the hoax / biolological warfare by China.

But America will not be defeated as long as Republicans are willing to die for their country and the economy.

No one has done that here lately.

It is still done ... but not as blatantly.
But that is not really the point.

The point is that the early in time is when it matters.
If you do it early, you will slow it down massively.
After you have a bigger number of infected people, it is much harder.

    Talking about Coronavirus cases:
"the 15, within a couple of days, is going to be down to close to zero. That's a pretty good job we've done."

This statement CLEARLY conveyed the message it is not really a big problem, everything is under control, no need for citizens to take precautions like social distancing.

The USA has currently over 55000 confirmed cases.
So I think everybody CAN do the maths if his prediction was realistic and hence how "good" a job he has done.
(Hint - a ver bad job, and it will cost the life of many Americans!)
