    Hello All,

    Anyone DOOMing these days?

John Romero is at it again. He has a new game called Sigil up on his
website at rome.ro. I've only had a quick look at it but it so can't say
much about it but if your a DOOMer you might want to look for your self.

It needs DOOM to run. I run it with prboom-plus like this..

    cd /usr/local/games/doom
    ./prboom-plus -iwad doom.wad -file sigil.wad

On another quick note the good folks at freedoom.org have released a new freedoom.wad, freedoom2.wad and freedm.wad, a wad with death match
levels. There are quite a few changes and tweaks all around.

Been playing 3D Realms, WRATH: Aeon of Ruin. It's pretty cool. Not free, but for a Quake Engine game it has some nice features.

Looks interesting. Not free but not expensive either. I'll take a better
    look when time permits.

I have been playing a mod for quake called Arcane Dimensions. It doesn't
look much like quake at all but it is for quake. It was put together by
about 12 quite well known quake mappers. The latest version is quite
large, about 220MB, and also there is a patch that is about 25MB. The
sources are also available for those who would like to look at that.

Very well done MOD, actually they call it a partial conversion.

I haven't played Doom in forever. I need to take a look at it again, but the "To Be Played" list keeps growing and the "Have to Earn a Living" list doesn't seem to shrink much. ;)

I've been playing Rage, after picking it up cheap at a Steam sale. I've been disappointed in it. Between Bethesda and ID I expected something a bit more but I haven't found the story line interesting and the gameplay is boring.

I'll probably end up finishing it because once I buy and start a game I try to finish it, even if I don't enjoy it. Is anyone else like that?

I'm off work on medical leave for a short time, so I've been catching up. :)

id isn't the same anymore. I can play all the id games on linux except the latest and probably upcoming doom and quake champions since Bethesda took over.
id didn't always release linux binaries for their games but they released the source so they could run natively on linux.

I'll probably end up finishing it because once I buy and start a game
I try to finish it, even if I don't enjoy it. Is anyone else like
    that?

I've never tried that one. Life was busy with "stuff" around the release of rage but maybe I'll get to it.

id sure have made their mark on the gaming world, and their work still shines today.
