From Doug Cooper@1:227/702 to All on Mon Jun 15 21:07:49 2020

Just a reminder that on June 17th, I'll be distributing materials to those
who want to participate, via gmail / google docs. I see it being on you and your kids own time:

    1. Pick a morning to take the to or share breakfast with them away from the normal home environment: park, living room, wherever is different.

    2. Go through the meeting deck together.

    3. Post your findings here. Posting would be:

    I'm proud of ... because.
    We discussed .... topic.
What I learned from my kids was ....
What I teachable moment I was able to help them through was ...
Challenge of the month selected (optional).

    go to

    www.allprodad/chapters/12159

to learn more, discover the months topic,
and to RSVP so I can send you the materials.

No harm in trying ... no time limit to reply ....

All Pro Dad also offers "virtual meetings" due to the COVID crisis, so if you like the concept upon doing it yourself with your children, you can attend a virtual meeting during these COVID19 times.

Hope a few of you participate!

    Doug

    This site can't be reached
www.allprodad's server IP address could not be found.

because that's not a valid domain... .com or something is missing from the domain name...

a quick google search turns up

    https://www.allprodad.com/

so the URL needs to be fixed and then it should work...

    Hey Dallas,

I'll look it up and resend the correct RSVP link for the next meeting. We didn't have anyone RSVP for this one -- now I know why. Thank you. In the mean time, I can still send you the materials if you want to exchange email addresses via netmail? -OR- on their main site, they offer live virtual meetings that aren't connected to any "chapter," so that all can participate
at 2 times, on any given meeting date. I thought I'd try the fido approach, since we have peeps living in different countries with a wide variety of time zones. So with the Fido Chapter I set up, it will be you RSVP'ing, so i can send you the materials once a month. Then once everyone has had the meeting with their kids, we can have the discussion on the dads site here. I think once we iron out the kinks, it'll make the Dads echo a great place to discuss positive dad related topics -- paticularly other than politics. As I
mentioned before, I've had several years experience with All Pro Dad, and
it's a top notch program. My boys and I are so much more close to one
another and I owe a big part of it to the monthly meetings opening my eyes to the "little things" that are of great importance to a child.

Let me know what you prefer. Netmail me your email addy and I can send you
the info. The next meeting I'll schedule out for July. But we can still
hold Junes at any time, just need everyones email addresses to send a google docs invite.

The link I had sent was supposed to our own Fido Chapter page, that allows
for participants to RSVP, see upcoming meetings, etc. I'll be reposting this weekend. I can NOT get netrunner to past into a Mystic full screen editor. I'm sure i"m doing something wrong; it copies to a clipboard just fine. If I typed the link out incorrectly, I'll be sure the one I do type out works
    prior to sending.

Might try just hitting the right mouse button in the editor. That's how I have to paste stuff in SyncTerm from my clipboard.

    YMMV

Yeah I have been unsuccessful in doing so with Mystic. I'm not sure cut and paste works within mystic. I'm not saying it doesn't for sure, but have yet
to discover the function. If there is one, knowing mystic, its very simple
to do. However, I had little need to cut and paste until this event. I can save to a text file and upload it into a message. I'll be sure to make sure the link is correct this next go around. I plan on July 14th for the our
first event, to send out materials. Last October my Daughter I had never
known existed got on 23andme and we discovered one another. She and her
family are visiting and we're meeting one another face to face for the first time the week of the 17th. Oddly, my dad had the same thing happen 6 months prior to me, so my newly discovered sister will be in town the prior. SO
I'll be sure to get the link out and details this weekend.

    Thanks Dallas!

Should just be able to use the right click menu in Netrunner to paste. Occasionally I've found that if there is a lot of content in the copy buffer the output can be weird (due to line length I guess) but other than that I do it all the time.

I finally figured that out. I need to use my mouse more often I guess. I
had been trying to CTRL-V. I guess I'm old school :)

I do the same thing. Since the ctrl-C and V work in all my text editors in
Win as well, it's just automatic to think it would work in a Windows based
    text client.

ha! So true. I can always seem to solve the big issues, but it's the little ones I'll spend the most time on, to find out it was as simple as using my mouse .. I'm convinced my brain wasn't wired right .. at times. I do blame some of it on growing up in basic with a c64, then DOS; while also my js coding
classes requiring repetitive short cuts and NOT using a mouse to prepare us for
productive coding within a company that would hire us. So yeah, twice this week now, I've discovered such stupidly simple solutions after posting what I thought were flaws and or major problems relating to BBS'ing. It must be with my daughter and her family visiting us this week that I'm distracted and
just not able to think these problems all the way through :)

As for All Pro Dads. I captured the attention of the Family First
Organization and one of their corporate promoters was curious about how
FidoNet works and had RSVP'ed to attend the July 14th class. His intent
being to see if theres a way he could find effective formats to assist us in having this program more easily available through BBS's!! Unfortunately, nobody RSVP'ed. I'd be curious to know who, if anyone, has an interest in giving ONE meeting a test drive; and then discussing a way to (forget the
term) parse or scrape(?) the daily emails and once a month meeting content, then scripting it directly to this Dad feed? While I'm learining API coding, I'm no pro yet. But I'm sure we have the talent to have some on purpose dad topics to discuss and can't think of a better program to test ....If there is
a genuine interest, could anyone reading reply?
