I had a *cheap* keyboard that came with my newest Dell mid-tower which required use of the "function" key along with Fi, F2. etc. I soon
donated it to Computer Banc to be someone else's problem.

I have two of those sitting on a shelf as back up for whenever or if my
current keyboard has a problem. I'm not sure, but I think that it is 15
to 20 years old. Keys have springs and a nice feel. Its only problem
is that it needs to have an adaptor cord to adjust from the old
connection method to a newer version.

Just for S&G I fired off one of my ASUS netbooks which are at least 15 years old. I'm considering whether or not to update the Linux that
came pre-installed or just to let it churn along as-is. After having it
on (plugged in) all morning I took it to lunch with my friend Les to
play show and tell with my latest project. It fired up and did its
thing at the cafe ... even hooked into the WiFi and let me know
"Captain! Incoming message" when I got an e-mail. So the battery is
    still good.

That is better than Gail's Ipad. At about the six year mark of frequent
use, mostly plugged into line power, the battery started to go. It
quickly went from cantankourous to so dead that it would not boot even connected to line power.

I'll try to get back to being on Fido more regularly this year, only
one trip scheduled (so far) this year. Other than that, some hand
surgery is to be scheduled (on the right hand, I'm left handed/ambidexterous) in the not too distant future.

We're always glad to see you here.

No, trip to Alaska, a combination cruise and inland tour by train/bus. late May, get back to NC in wee small hours of June 1. Don't know about
a VT trip this year, have to see what happens this spring.

We did that a number of years ago. We were much more moble then. It
was one of our better coach tours (but also cruise, train, bus).

This is our standard New Years Day meal. This year we made a batch,
    froze 3 meals for future.

    DOUBLED RECIPE LAST TIME I
    MADE RECIPE AND NEEDED TWO
    ADDITIONAL 14 OZ CANS OF
    CHICKEN BROTH. (This time I
Needed to add entire 32 oz
    Can of chicken broth.
    After refrigerated - need to
    Add some extra water since
    Rice soaks up chicken broth

Serves 6 - can be doubled easily. Total time beginning to table -
approx 4 hours. Freezes and reheats well.

Heat peas and water? (have no idea how much water) and broth to
boiling in large sauce pan or dutch oven. Maybe water disappeared in
some revision of recipe. Boil uncovered 2 minutes; remove from heat.
Cover and let stand 1hour. Do not drain.

Stir in crushed red pepper, garlic and ham. Heat to boiling,
reduce heat. Cover and simmer 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes or
until peas are tender. (Do not boil or peas will burst)

Stir in rice, onions, bell pepper, pepper, celery seed, one cup
V-8, and 2 chicken bouillon cubes.

Cover and simmer about 25 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Cut stems out of center of collard green leaves. Slice and chop in
match size strips. Stir in collard greens, simmer until heated

    Last made 1/2/11.

My default keyboard is an OLD KeyTronic with a PD2 to USB adapter. But
it was getting sort of in need of disassembly and a good cleaning so I
started trying out my stock of stand-by stuff. My Dell branded KryTronic
has the same look and feel but the <CTRL> key does not work. The A-Open "multi-media" PS2 keyboard looks a lot like the later KeyTronic USB Multi
Media board I am using now while I fix up/clean to old friend keyboard.
In the process I auditioned a Microsoft "ergonomic" example which went
nuts on me - throwing spurious keypresses at ramdom times, sticking keys, turning "Caret Browsing" on and off at random, etc. Plus itr was not an intuitive keyboard to use. Waste Management took it to their landfill
with the household trash yesterday. Bv)=

MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

Title: 15-Minute Chicken & Rice Dinner
    Categories: Poultry, Rice, Soups
    Yield: 4 servings

1 1/4 lb Boned, skinned chicken
    1 tb Oil
10 1/2 oz Cream of Chicken Soup
    1 1/2 c Water
    1/4 ts Paprika
2 c Uncooked instant white rice

Season the chicken with salt and pepper. Heat the oil in
a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken
and cook for 6 minutes or until browned on both sides
(to prevent sticking- make sure the skillet and oil are
hot before adding the chicken). Remove the chicken from
    the skillet.

Stir the soup, water and paprika in the skillet and heat
to a boil. Stir in the rice and broccoli. Reduce the
heat to low. Return the chicken to the skillet. Sprinkle
the chicken with additional paprika. Cover and cook for
5 minutes or until the chicken is done and the rice is
tender. Adjust seasoning to taste before serving.
