• Kimchi Fried Rice

    MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.06

    Title: Kimchi Fried Rice (Kimchi Bok Eum Bap)
    Categories: None
    Yield: 1 servings

    3 Bowls steamed rice; (3 cups)
    1 c Chopped kimchi
    1/4 c Kimchi juice
    1/4 c Water
    2 tb Gochujang; (red chili
    -paste), up to 3
    3 ts Sesame oil
    1 ts Vegetable oil
    1 Green onion; chopped
    1 tb Roasted sesame seeds
    1 Sheet of kim; roasted and
    -shredded

    Add the vegetable oil and head up a pan. Add the kimchi and stir fry
    for 1 minute. Add rice, kimchi juice, water, and gochujang. Stir
    together for about 7 minutes with a wooden spoon. Add sesame oil and
    remove from the heat. Sprinkle with chopped green onion, roasted kim,
    and sesame seeds. Serve right away.

    Many Koreans also like to put a fried egg on top.

    in Gochujang I just don't like. (I like most funky foods, so I
    really don't know why that one bothers me)

    Right on, it is a quick and flavorful supper.

    I have substituted Thai red curry paste when Gochujang was not available. I used locally sourced seaweed from the hippie food coop. Seaweed flakes work well. I also like to add sesame seeds.
