That would be of limited value. PING messages in fidonet, test netmail routing. This problem is in echomail routing.

As someone pointed out, a major echomail mover shut down, too. As folks
were shuffling their routings, some packets may have been disrupted or lost.

1:261/38 Wasn't involved in any of the PATH's we've seen so far.

The only uplink of the boss node: 2:333/808 seems to be 2:335/364. If the problem is caused between those two, like bad packets, then start praying! ;-)
