• 1st batch homemade applesauce

From August Abolins@2:460/58 to All on Fri Oct 2 00:02:33 2020

I collected about 65 apples (10kg) from one lone apple tree on my property. Made my 1st batch of apple sauce in a slow cooker. Very easy. The recipe called for 10 apples, but I used 14. Results = very good. It will be great with pork chops or chicken, or occasionally on a gluten-free bread. Next, I have more coring and peeling to do.

The tree actually produced much more. I would estimate that there were a couple dozen on the ground that were already degrading before I got there. In the past, the deer or elk or mice would nibble on the best of the best and leave nothing for me. This year, it was my turn! I only missed just a handful of apples from the very top. A few apples dropped while I was picking the fresher ones from the ground. They are a rather nice large yellow variety.

    Good tagline.

On a ham radio traffic net last night, run by an 11 year old young lady
(her parents are also both licensed), the question was "your favorite
cookie", and mine was the chocolate chip cookies with M&M's. <G>

That young lady passed all 3 of her exams within 3 months, at 9 years of
age. She is a smart and industrious young lady.
