The 3rd is slightly closer to me than the other 2. I've
never had much over a wait when going there. The problem
comes from a change it made a few months prior to Covid.
This location went tellerless, Meaning that instead of a
teller, you walk up to a machine which is basically like an
ATM. Only instead of using your debit card, you type your
account number onto a keypad, then you are video linked to
a person, who might be in an office there, or anywhere
really, to conduct your transactions. Loans or other things
do still have actual person to person situations though.

I've never heard of the video feature. How do you like it? I
would assume that if there is a video-teller, then it is not
    available 24 hrs.

When or even before Houston/Harris County began their
lockdown they actually closed the location except for drive
through banking.. Luckily, it was minimal problem for me,
since the only thing I ordinarily needed to go to the bank
for was twice a month to deposit one check..

Which reminds me, I'll probably want to discourage cheques now
too. The only way to process them is to go to a bank. No thanks.

I utilized drive-thru banking a few times, but that was decades
ago, and in a major city. It wasn't totally bad, but sometimes
the height didn't seem right for my passenger vehicle.

Honestly, if I'm at a machine, It might as well be an ATM that allows
deposits, which I've seen for years. Worst case, the depsited checks take a day or two to post to your account, which can happen in any case. I was tempted to ask for rolls of change to see how that was handled, as the only slots I saw were where the cash/checks were fed in and the slot bills came
out, and the receipt printer. I didn't notice any thing to deal with coibs.

Which reminds me, I'll probably want to discourage cheques now

Some banks do have mobile apps that handle depositing checks electrinuxally, but I'm not sure how it works exactly. But there are many places around here that don't accept checks.

When I first opened the account with my current bank, my checking account was actually called "No check checking."

WHhile on this subject, does your shop accept electronic payments?

I ask, because last summer while I was trying to get my nursery/yard art business going, I primarily used Online market places like LetGo or OfferUp.

Mostly LetGo, because I liked the interface better. It was aquired by Offerup though so that's that.

In any case, a few people when asking about plants and such, asked me uf I accepted Venmo or CashApp or Paypal. Through those you can process payments and Transfer funds to the bank electronically. Just an idea.

I don't there is any ATM in Canada that offers coins.

But that is another thing.. eventually I run out of coins. Why
are people hoarding that stuff? My only option is/was to go to
the bank. Now, in light of the recent "by appointment only"
imposition, I have another solution. But maybe I shouldn't
mention it - at least, not yet.

Yes.. my main bank has the "take a pic with your smartphone" and
deposit it that way method. But I don't have a current
smartphone that will support getting apps from the google-store.
I *could* however install the .APK direct, if I could get it.

OMG. What nonsense in their naming of things just to sound
    different and get your attention.

I ask, because last summer while I was trying to get my

Yes.. I have a commercial terminal for that. It accepts
Mastercard, Visa, Debit, and ApplePay. People can also make a
payment online via PayPal or eTransfer too.

Never heard of the LetGo/Offerup alternatives. Maybe it's just a
    USA offering.

They seem to be tied in with specific items for sale. I would
need a simple alternative to just send cash.

Another popular service is the Square. It's a pretty good
solution for someone who needs portability.

I know with the supposed coin shortage we had/have here, some stores had some option on their transactions, I'm not sure what though. I mostly only use
cash at the gas station, since gasoline prices are cheaper when paying cash.

It wasn't a thing I looked for. I was in a work therapy program throygh the
VA hospital, Part of it was a requirement to open the account there. It was extremely limited, the Debit card only allowed $50/day for example. I
believe it was due to many of the participants were going through drug/acohol addiction treatment so the limit was to keep them from blowing their mobey on such things. My own problems are due to anxiety, depression, and something similar to PTSD, so money management wasn't actually an issue in that way.

LetGo/OfferUp and others are like Online Yard Sale/Flea Market type things,

OfferUp, I believe has options available to pricess payments through them,
but I haven't done much throygh their service.

I was poised to consider that as my main payment device. But, at
the time, it did not offer Debit payments. Also, the overall
per-transaction fees were at least double for what I was paying
using the traditional hardwired terminal. Also, there was no
backup method to conduct a transaction should the internet go
down. The traditional terminals offer dialup as a fallback -
and THAT has come in handy numerous times.

It does seem costly to pay for a tradition POTS phone line
(business rate = $80/mo) ...just to accomodate a dialup fallback
    for the terminal.

If I truly wanted to reduce those expenses, then I should switch
to pure VOIP for my phone system, and use the Square - and hope
    that all transactions will succeed.

But.. I'll stick with the traditional method for now, despite
paying a monthly fee for the terminal itself. :(

Oh.. another way people can pay me is by buying a gift
    certificate online via https://Anycard.ca/store/ashlies, and
the funds end up in my bank in 2 or 3 days.

The service takes a 10% cut though. :(
