    Some of my all time favorite authors are ones published by Baen. I?m personal friends with two of them. Larry is one, but I?m really good mates with Tom Kratman. His wife is Panamanian and she?s become good friends with my wife as well

    I see a common thing with the authors [Kratman, Correia] you
    mention: military sci-fi / fantasy. I wasn't particularly
    aware of that mix.

    Wrt Baen, Simon&Schuster seems to be their distributor. S&S is
    the slowest biz to work with. As a result, I've generally
    skipped checking their catalog. And.. I see Kratman and
    Correia are with Baen. No wonder they never appeared on my
    radar.

    Star Trek novels (of which I am out of since 2018) are also a
    kind of shootem up military sci-fi ..and those too are
    distributed by S&S. I see a correlation here! :D

    Check out David Weber as well. The Honor Harrington series. Think Hornblower, but female ? and in space ?

    He's another Baen distro - which means sucky Simon & Schuster.

    :(

    But, I see that some other titles of his are Tor pub. That's a
    better one for me - although Tor is only available from a lone
    distibutor located in British Columbia.

    I really enjoyed Ringworld (Larry Niven). There was a half
    decent AI drone-like cat-n-mouse hunt/fighting scene which was
    pretty good.

    by Christopher Nuttall. Disgraced general put out to pasture captaining an antique spaceship/museum piece ends up at the forefront of a war with an unseen enemy. It's got some Battlestar Galactica vibes and is an
    entertaining read.

    I've read the first 3 books, which comprised the first story arc, he's continued on since then with more books.

    They sound good. Never heard of the guy.

    The Ark series seems long out of print. It would be a hunter's
    dream to find them all (14?) in a used bookshop.
