    George RR Martin released an exerpt of the upcoming conclusion
    to the Song of Ice & Fire [Games of Thrones] series, The Winds
    of Winter.

    I like the way he talks about what's coming:

    " At Guadalajara International Book Fair 2016, Martin gave some
    clues about the dark nature of The Winds of Winter: ... "I've
    been telling you for 20 years that winter was coming. Winter is
    the time when things die, and cold and ice and darkness fill
    the world, so this is not going to be the happy feel-good that
    people may be hoping for. Some of the characters [are] in very
    dark places. .... Things get worse before they get better, so
    things are getting worse for a lot of people. "

    I am an avid fan of Larry Correia, and he has some scathinginly Bad Things to say about RR.. Has coloured my opinions somewhat I must admit.

    The Sad Puppies thing was deliberately mischaracterized and demonized.

    I was reading a wiki on Sad Puppies, but it sounds confusing, especially when Rabid Puppies is mentioned. Is SP still carrying on? I like the Sad Puppies "mission patch". Looks like a few sad fidonet puppies.

    OMG. I ended up finding a "response" to GRRM by LC here:

    I can only read about two screens and I've had enough of that. Twenty screens down only amounted to 1/20th of the whole thing! It would seem to have been better if both GRRM and LC would devote all that energy and word-output to writing a novel.
