I get an inbound text message today.

Approved. Answer 5 to Finalize If u r Still in the Market for Vehicle?
Does anyone actually believe that I'd reply to this when it looks like something my teenage grandaughter would write?
Not to mention I haven't tried to get a loan for anything in a decade.

This was via text/sms on your phone?
Of course they want you to think they are legit. I bet they are
targeting the individual who is either [1] completely gullible [2] a
young person who just finished an online application for a car loan [3] some doped up soul who will click on anything.
The next step will be to grant them power of attorney to your finances.

And there are many stupid people.
If they would loose money by doing this, they would stop ;)
What I do not understand is why you copy that spam here, to be honest.

Like I have finances. :-D

It struck me as an exceptionally idiotic scam attempt, and
I thought I would share it with my friends.
Then I remembered that I actually don't have any friends.
The people I know here in the BBS community are what I've
got.

It's a broad term that covers many things: eg. banking, debt,
credit, money, and investments. As long as you have a bank
account that's a first entry point of control by the holder of
of the power of attorney.

It's good to broadcast experiences like that. It could be a
heads-up of a new scam or an old scam that has regained a new
life.
For years, I'd get a phone call what sounded like a fundraiser
for "children in your area" and they'd name a local camp in a
local town where that camp is located. It is designed to sound
familiar because they cite a real camp and a real town. Yet they
expect me to fork over a donation via credit card over the
phone. They start with $25 per child.. "Can you make 4 children
happy?" If I say I can't manage this year, then they suggest
$25 for one child. BS. In this day and age, it is impossible
to verify their claims over the phone. So, that is basically
what I tell them. And they usually hang up before I do.
..my bank is basically temporary storage until bills are
due. No investments in years, never a credit card exceot
once I had a company Travel and expense card that was used
when I had to drive to other company locations when they
needed my help with something.
The scam calls keep coming, but I'm answering less of them.
My mobile service has something that seems to identify
them and a message sonething like "suspectex spam caller"
on the ID. so I just ignore those.
