• Cats?

From Jeff Smith@2:250/1 to All on Wed Jan 16 14:56:04 2019
    Hello There,

Not long ago we had a cat "Pandora" pass away. She was almost 17 years old. She had been weak and listless the last couple weeks. Sadly, she jumped up in my lap to lay down and snuggle. Twenty minutes later passed away in my lap. :-( It seemed like she knew it was her time and didn't want to go alone.

Acquired a new cat "Cali". Short for Calico which she is. She is/was a farm cat. A whole different attitude. Didn't even see her for the first three days as she hid. Thankfully she had gotten more friendly and more social. She is still sensitive to sudden noises and movements. And has a propensity to chew on toes. :-) And hasn't learned to use discretion when it comes to the use of claws. Took her in for shots and she has an upcoming appointment to be spayed. Been in heat the last week. That poor cat sounds like she is dying.

I'm so sorry for your loss of Pandora - I'm sure she was glad to have you there for her 'then'.

Due to an over-abundance of cats being home-bred (and in the wild) in Belgium one can only legally aquire cats that have been spayed and if one gets one from other sources it needs to be spayed as well first time it gets to the vet.

    No more unprofessional home-breeding ...

    Jeff,

It seemed like she knew it was her time and didn't want to go alone.

A pet is like one of the family, and you hate to have to put them
down. But, all of us who have been pet owners have had to do that at one
time or another. I cried like a baby for 15 minutes when my late wife
and I had our dachshund put down. But, at 11 years old, he had become
diabetic, resistant to the insulin, and had gone blind from glaucoma and cataracts. But, he had a working nose, and a full set of teeth up until
    he died.

Been in heat the last week. That poor cat sounds like she is dying.

That's because she knows there are males outside to "play with". <G>

After my Mom had our cat spayed, it gave us the stinkeye..."you took
    away my baby maker!!". :P

She had to be put down several years ago as well.

I know this is a cats echo, but I want to make a point. :)

My late wife, Janice, loved dachshunds, and got me partial to them.
But she got the males, because even though they pee all over everything
to mark their territory, it is CHEAPER to neuter a male, than to spay a
female. I know that's the case with dogs, but would think it's the same
    with cats.

Anyway, the dachshund Janice and I got 3 months after our first one
had to be put down, was taken to this grooming and boarding facility, as
Janice and I were going out of town for the weekend. He was black and
tan with silver dapple (which is rare, only 1 out of 100
whelpings)...and the vet tech fell in love with him.

She exclaimed "Oh!! He's adorable!!". Then, (to the dog), she asks
    "Are we neutered??".

Without missing a beat, Janice popped off with "No, but my husband is!!"...and the vet tech grinned, saying "Yeah, mine is, too".

    I was so red!! :P

I think they have to be at least 8 weeks old before they can be spayed
    or neutered.

It's ok to discuss any pet here (except maybe pet rocks) :)

    It sure is... much cheaper.

Could be.. it's been a while since any of our guys had to be neutered.

    Hi Daryl,

    Hi, Janis...

That's because they're stoned all the time. <g,d,r>

    It sure is... much cheaper.

Just for S and G (I'm sure you know what that means) <G>, how much??
    Several hundred dollars??

    I was so red!! :P

    hahaha :)

Those wonderful memories are what no one can take away from me. It's
hard to believe it's nearly 12 years since I lost my Dad to pancreatic cancer...then I lost my wife not 3 months later.

Could be.. it's been a while since any of our guys had to be neutered.

Ah, yes...got to remove "the trouble nuggets". <G>
