  • chewing plastic

    I have a cat that likes to chew plastic. I've taken great care to remove anything plasticy but theres still some items that can't be removed. For example the draft trim that goes around the door. Anyone have any ideas on how I can stop or hinder this behavior.

    When my Siamese was a youngin' he liked to chew on all sorts of things, and even dig in the plants. Sprinkling cayenne pepper in the potted plants and rubbing it onto other items put a stop to that pretty quick.

    He doesn't do it at all anymore, so I longer need to spice the house up.

    Maybe use a "distraction technique" like catnip placed near where she's chewing... or throw one of the cat's toys over to her?

    The toy might work better than catnip. Some cats love it, but others
    aren't even fazed by it. As Garfield (the lasagna loving feline) notes,

    That is true, I've read. :)

    My late grandmother had a cat named Rufus, who loved it. She tried
    to grow it in the garden, but he always found it, and dug it up.
    Eventually, his diggings killed it. The cats my late Mom had, weren't
    even fazed by it.

    A few years ago, a truck hauling lasagna, got stuck on the tracks
    at a railroad crossing, and got T-boned by a train. The driver was
    OK, but the cargo was "scattered"...and "Garfield was furious"!! <G>
