• DBRIDGE and BINKD

From Pasquale Monti@2:335/370 to All on Sat Feb 13 19:35:44 2021
    Hello, All!

I am trying to use the DBRIDGE - BINKD combination to my BBS under Ubuntu.
When polling the main node no problem; packets are prepared for the points but when the points call they upload the mail but don't pick up anything?

The binkd configuation of the point is:

    node 2:335/370.1 - PASSWORD i /home/vdesktop/DOS/DB/QUEUE/N-POINT.001

    What's wrong?

    Best Regards, Pasquale

I would need some more info... I don't understand what you mean by polling the "main node".

Points may only be defined off of the primary address and it is not possible to directly exchange mail with points of another system.

Why not? If they have a mailer online, you can send them crashmail... If you like you can test it on two of my points.

If a point calls binkd should indeed send everything that is inside the defined outbox.

    Is there anything in /home/vdesktop/DOS/DB/QUEUE/N-POINT.001?

Are the permission on the directories and files correct (Ubuntu's / Debian's binkd runs as the user ftn by default)?

And what is this N-POINT.001 directory anyway? It's not BSO. How would it be named if the mail is directed to a point of another node or a node that hasn't a defined filebox?

The Queue format of D'Bridge does not allow this to happen.

    Aha, ok...

(And since this is the BINKD area: It's not a limit in binkd...)

Don't get me wrong, I wish it could but it would require messing around with code that has been working untouched for decades.

Correct, this thread should/could be moved to the DB echo.

Yes "don't fix it if it ain't broken" applies here. ;)

Zone 2 distributes a pointlist, don't they? Without the sender knowing where to send to (via that pointlist) you'd need to route to the boss node for pickup - which seems to be the intended behavior.

We were talking about the possibility, not the dificulties of sending mail directly to points. And it is possible if you have the right information.

    Bye, Wilfred.
