    This is the ANTIQUES echo.

The Antiques and Vintage collections echo is a place where questions can be asked or answered about antiques and vintage collectible items. It's not generally for 'not-so-old' computer hardware you've got packed away, but really old computers may be discussed (Classic Computers, etc.). People who have antiques to sell or those would like to buy are encouraged to post, as well as those looking for the existence of a particular item from early/unknown manufacturers.

Inquiries regarding identifying antiques like types of furniture, etc. (shaker, victorian, early American, etc.) are welcome, as are inquiries about and discussions of Early American silver, dinnerware, and related objects. A repository of photos is maintained at
    http://www.filegate.net/antiquefile/

You will be able to upload your photos for people to see. Uploads of photos are limited to the topics of this echo. The modertor of this echo is Janis Kracht, 1:261/38, janis@filegate.net

    Hi Sam!

Lol :) (and I'm laughing because I kinda resemble the remark haha)

If you are interested in Antiques (the real kind <grin>), check out Dr. Lori Verderame. She is an award-winning TV personality and TV talk show host with the Ph.D. in art history. She reviews and appraises approximately 20,000 objects a year...

She also worked as a curator at the Allentown Art Museum, as professor of art history and museum director at Muhlenberg College, and also as a curator at Colgate University, Palmer Museum of Art, Penn State, the Susquehanna Art Museum and the University of Wisconsin.

People send her photos, or she meets with them in their homes or online for appraisals. When she hosts online live shows, she appraises folks objects for free. I've posted links to a few of her online shows here in the past.

If you have say an object from your grandma or one of your relatives, you can go to her page just before one of her live shows and use your laptop or computer to talk with her about your object, for free!

You can binge watch all of Dr. Lori's videos on Antiques at this link, https://bit.ly/3c4VPy1

or see her web page (https://www.drloriv.com/) for current shows. She is a great lady, and has a great sense of humour!

    Take care,
    Janis
