• MGA9 update ?

From Vincent Coen@2:250/1 to All on Fri Sep 8 21:46:09 2023
    Hello All!

I am running v8 X64 and as of today have not received any notice of v9,
    even when running an update.

Do I have to change a setting ?

Under Configure Updates frequency it is set on Check for newer Mageia
    releases.

I am not in a rush for this as I tend to let a new release stay in the
wilds for a few months to remove some of the more important bugs.

That said I do have another v8 build running on a HDD that I can test with providing any update cycle does not break the rest of the system.

Belay my previous message - just seen Errata etc that service is delayed
while v9 undergoes more testing .

    I'm happy with that :)

There is no rush as v8 is working OK at the moment.

I hope that the support date for v8 is pushed back well into 2024 as three months is no where long enough.

    It's working for me.

Check in /etc/sysconfig/mgaapplet and ~/.MgaOnline/mgaonline (which if present overrides the system level setting). Make sure it does not have DO_NOT_ASK_FOR_DISTRO_UPGRADE=true

Then either logout/in or run "killall mgaapplet && mgaapplet &".

Note that it won't show the upgrade available if there are still updates to install.

Nope both are clear of that setting and yes my system is up to date.

Hmm, double check ---- nope SPU is empty.

    Never mind - no rush.

Did you logout/in or manually restart mgaapplet?

Also, what does "urpmq --list-url|head -n 3" show?

Hmmm. Try creating a new user, logout and then in as that new user and see if it
    shows for that user.

I manually added the mirror repos for Mageia 9 (as su):

    # urpmi.addmedia --distrib --mirrorlist 'http://mirrors.mageia.org/api/mageia.9.$ARCH.list'

And then tested if the M9 mirrors were indeed installed:

    # inxi -r

PS: I had to wait almost a week, untill the local mirrors here in Europe
were up to date with Mageia 9. Then it took the usual two days before
the mgaaplet was activated with the message that the new distro M9 was
    ready for install.

    Marc.
