Subject: 3 min pause and loads of "error" messages if use ethernet USBC
    dongle after HDMI dongle

I have a Dell XPS13 9360 machine, which has one usbC port. At home I
use that port with an HDMI dongle (I use wifi for network at home). and evrything works. At work I use an ethernet usbc dongle to connect. If,
after I have used the machine at home, I happen to have the usbc
ethernet dongle plugged in on boot at work, The system stops in its boot
with a blank screen (I use nosplash so I can see the boot process ).
After Mageia 8 has run the "new hardware" test, it will give me a blank screen. If I now do Fn F8-- the split screen key,-- I again get the boot process text, but the system goes into a LONG wait (130 sec) then
produces a long series of messages, and then another 40 sec or so wait
and a huge bunch of kernel messages before it finally delivers me the
SDDM logon screen. The above happens even if I have the wireless dongle
plugged in on the second boot at work rather than the first. Ie it seems
that Mageia is remembering that sometime in the past the HDMI dongle was plugged in, and is totally confused, sulks, and complains bitterly about
there being no hdmi dongle plugged in, before it finally completes boot
    and recognizes the ethernet connection.

The dongles are Linke usbC dongles if that makes a difference. It is
Mageia 8 updated as the OS. I am using NetworkCenter to handle the
networking, if that makes any difference.

Here is an example from journalctl. Note the huge pause in the boot
process just after harddrake is running.

At one time with Mageiia 7 I would get a boot hang and no network.

On several occasions I had a rogue script appear in "/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/" for a different non existent Ethernet chip

I never did find where it came from
