• MGA8 Dolphin location bar

From faeychild@2:250/1 to All on Wed Apr 21 01:58:44 2021

In MGA7 the Location bar which shows the file and path resides below the Toolbar as a separate entity.

But in MGA8 the Location bar is moved into the Toolbar and gets mixed
with the "Forward, Back, Split. Find. Newtab" etc

I can't find any setting to move it. I tried copying the Dolphin config
files from MGA7 to clone it - no effect.

Right-click the toolbar and choose "Edit toolbars" from the popup menu.
In the list you'll see next, scroll down on the right-hand pane until
you see "URL locator". Select it and remove it from the toolbar by
clicking the arrow pointing to the left in between the two panes.

There should =E2=80=94 emphasis =E2=80=94 be a location indicator underneat=

toolbar either way, but whether it's editable or not depends on the
Dolphin settings. If it's in its non-editable form, left-clicking it
will turn it into an editable field.

The above information is of course not as derived from working at a
Mageia system, but from a Manjaro system, currently with Plasma 5.21.4
and KDE Frameworks 5.81.0. Dolphin is at version 20.12.3 here.

Confirmed. Not a bug though, a choice by the dolphin developers.

Dolphin version in Mageia 8 is 20.12.0. There's no "URL locator" listed.

Ah. Thanks Found it, it's called Navigation rather then "URL locator", and removing
it from the toolbar does cause it to appear on the next line.

Decided to put Navigation back in the toolbar, but at the end so it's not in between
the icons, but still takes up less vertical space.

I agree about the vertical space. It's an inevitable result of the
toolbar explosion. An option to reduce the toolbar height perhaps!

    Skinny toolbars :-)

There is a option to install in the Title (not too bad) and I was
thinking that there is also plenty of room in the status bar.

But changing the name of things is just irritating and because the
developer can do it on a whim

    Regards

Yeah, KDE developers do that kind of thing all the time.
