Yes, it is the right Zoom, but with the dependency issues I have had,
will it run? I no longer need Zoom; it was used while meetings in
person were prevented by the social distancing rules.

All I can say is that I clicked my desktop shortcut/launcher,
logged into zoom, clicked up a terminal and launched
    firefox https://zoom.us/test
and when I clicked a join meeting, I see myself from the usb web cam
jacked into usb port on front of desktop pc.

I no longer need Zoom; it was used while meetings in
person were prevented by the social distancing rules.

I must be nice to be in a country that has the virus under complete control.

Anyone wanting to get zoom working in this group needs to start start
a new thread. I would NOT care to see this thread highjacked for troubleshooting or virus discussion.

And they still are. Where are you? If they have relaxed the social
distancing rules, be prepared for a spike in cases, and the
reimposition of even harsher rules, or, if the people in charge are
stubborn, be prepared for a lot more deaths.
I do not know what "dependency " issues you had. You presumably did
install the required dependencies and thus you will now already have
    them

Hmmm!! Funny you should mention "re-imposition of even harsher rules" as
Doug and I live in Victoria, Australia, which has been slapped into a 5
day total lock-down, started Saturday, due to a couple of cases of the
more serious U.K.-variant CoViD-19 popping their ugly heads up. ;-(

Agreed. That is why you have to do things a bit more intelligently on
Mageia when trying to install a Redhat or Fedora package.

So the problem is social, not technical. That I probably cannot help

    Very true.

There is a user can't compile checkinstall on OpenSuse

Sounds like a problem for a different group than alt.os.linux.mageia

(In Mageia, it is in the repos.) Mageia's
libxcb-xtest is different from those in Fedora and Mint.

A very good reason to not mix rpms from other distributions.

    With the
lockdown, my radio club's AGM will be held over zoom.
I will wait until there is one in the Mageia repos.

There is a Mageia zoom rpm, problem is that it is a game, not Zoom.

Seeing the amount of releases, guessing you will not be seeing one for
    Zoom in the near future.

I used the "scrip" command to get all the output from the downloaded
    zoom rpm.

I then created an install_zoom bash script to install all the Mageia
rpms prior to installing the zoom rpm. Snippet from install_zoom:

    #**************************
    #* main code starts here
    #**************************
