FYI: Security certificate expiration heads up

I use the postfix alias feature to send all of root's email to my
account. Saves me having to login as root to check if there are
any problems in cron jobs, getting low on space,... in the mailbox.
I posted a ch_4_expired_certs script a week or so ago, it warned
me about postix cert was going to expire next month.
I generated a new cert and surprise, surprise, there was no
mail showing up from root. I am using thunderbird and always have
messages from some of my custom cron jobs.
I do not remember which way I did it, click inbox/get messages,
but thunderbird popped up a warning about a security exception having
do with the certificate. I accepted the fact the cert had changed
and that it was self signed and all the normal messages showed up.
I have no idea what thunderbird will do it the cert has expired
when thunderbird comes up.
My guess you have to click Get messages/Inbox to find out.
