• Cauldron - Graphics system broke

From Gilberto F da Silva@2:250/1 to All on Sat Jul 11 16:56:48 2020
I followed the instructions here https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Cauldron-PT
to update Mageia 7 to cauldron. After updating the graphics system no
longer works. I can only login in text mode.

    I used urpmi to update.

And in hindsight, you now know you need to know what you are doing if
    you play in Cauldron.

I keep my "Production" install separate from my Cauldron install.
I never do updates, always clean installs.

In your case I would have formated a /cauldron partition, booted a rescue
cd, used rsync /mga7/ to /cauldron, mounted /cauldron, modify /cauldron/etc/fstab,
and run update-grub2, to get /cauldron added to the grub boot selection/menu.

After updating the graphics system no
longer works. I can only login in text mode.

Since you seem to refuse my suggestions to provide hardware/software information, all I can suggest is running /usr/bin/drakx11 to pick
    xorg vesa video driver.

Is this just a complaint or were you hoping for some help. If the latter
then far more detail would be needed before anyone could have an hope of helping you.

Note also that cauldron is a work in progress, and has bugs. It is know
to have bugs. You install it only if you are willing to help find and
diagnose those bugs. If you are ot willing to, do not install cauldron.
However when you report those bugs you have to give far more information
about your system and what you actually did than you give here.

While I realize you are trying to help, as others have said you give no information about your system, making your comment of little help in identifying the source of the problems you are seeing.

That said, a recent Cauldron update is known to have broken GDM (Gnome
Display Manager) on many systems using Intel graphics. The developers
    are working on it.

I have a memory stick that is still with Mageia 8 Alpha 1. I will do a
    new installation and report here.
