• The sound stops when I switch to virtual consoles

From Gilberto F da Silva@2:250/1 to All on Wed Jul 8 16:54:56 2020

The sound stops when I switch to virtual consoles using CTRL + Fn. The
sound returns after completing the login. But if you are logged in as
root the sound does not come back. The trick used by me is to login as a normal user and then acquire root rights.

This is not a problem with Mageia, in other distributions that also use
the system the same thing happens.

I'm posting here because I'm using Mageia 7.1

You can thank pulseaudio for that "Feature"

But if you are logged in as

Personally, I put everyone in the pulse-access and audio groups.
That way all my users, root, and cron jobs can play audio.

Be aware that vlc will grab complete audio control locking out other
users access to do any audio work.
