I have discovered that I am running the nouveau driver.

Is there a reasonably effortless way to switch to nvidia?

    regards

If the video card is supported and the nonfree repositories enabled, running XFdrake (as root) should allow selecting the nvidia driver.

    Thanks David.
I currently have a process I can't interrupt so I'll run xfdrake later.

NB Since several updates previous I have noticed occasional video
    corruption and flickering.

I just blamed nvidia for a driver change without comparing driver
versions. But something this morning made me wonder, and a check showed
    the nouveau module.

I suppose I should have twigged earlier when I found the nvidia "tool"
missing from the system tools menu. At the time I thought maybe it's deprecated.

But then, sometimes two plus two can make five,

but only for extremely large values of two

    regards

    It worked well, David. Thanks
