• Mageia 8 "Available"?

It simply is not there. The progress chart shows that Alpha 1 will not
be available for another 3 weeks at the earliest. There is no link to a
CD. The only download of 8 that is offered is a Network install, just
like it has been for months.

Seriously, this is like Mandriva all over again. I am still using
Mageia 7.1 for routine jobs, but for anything special, I am now looking
    at PCLOS.

and I know what you lot will say: Trump's line: "News like that only

I have no idea what you are talking about.

Exactly WHAT are you bitching about?

The progress chart shows that Alpha 1 will not
be available for another 3 weeks at the earliest.

Well there you are, no release iso to download. IIRC those
Alpha/Beta releases are just for people who want to do QA testing.

There is no link to a CD.

Personally I hate dangling/dead links that point to non-existent
items and is usually a good design decision to not have a dead link
    in a web page.

The only download of 8 that is offered is a Network install, just
like it has been for months.

True, but iso is updated as needed. Just did a net install yesterday
    using the 105M May 21 11:55 Mageia-Cauldron-netinstall-nonfree-x86_64.iso

Going to guess the schedule is going to slip even more since I
see numerous mga7 rpms still yet to be generated as mga 8. and one
of the mailing list indicated another major contributor of the Mageia
community workforce (TMB) has gone offline. :(

Obviously the question mark in the topic of the blog post wasn't clear enough. The post was not intended to say Mageia 8 is available. It was intended to answer
the question of when when it is expected to be available.

    Sorry for any confusion.

    Regards, Dave Hodgins

Mageia 8 is NOT READY. Why are you bitching. Esp with corona and some of
the volunteers probably being sick, yes things might be delayed.

There is no CD for a Cauldron. It changes too fast.

And what is wrong with Mageia 7.1? It is receiving updates and security updates. What are you quetching about?

Agreed. Mageia 7 (OK, if you must, 7.1) is rock-solid for me, even on
the machines I use for testing updates. I use it for everything.

The only thing I do with my Cauldron install at this point is look in on
it once in a while, getting the latest round of updates.
