• Mageia Control Centre (MCC) and scrolling

From Ar@2:250/1 to All on Thu Aug 8 09:05:06 2019
In Mageia 6, the scroll wheel on my mouse no longer worked in any part
of the Mageia Control Centre, upgraded to Mag7 the other day, it still
doesn't work. Any ideas on what's going on?

The scroll bars in MCC are actually quite hard to grab, and scroll that way.

Strange. I have a completely different setup-- laptop with track pad--
but the two finger scroll on the trackpad ( which is the equivalent of
the scroll wheel) works fine in MCC on Mga6. This might suggest that
there is some problem with your mouse or mouse driver. So you should
give more details as to what kind of mouse you have, what the mouse
    driver is, etc.

I hear that. You need to give us which app has the problem. I do not care
    if all have the problem.

    For example mcc->Software Management->Install & Remove Software
you can place the pointer in the package column header and use
    the wheel to scroll.

I might help if you were to provide information on mouse
    lsmod | grep mouse
indicated I am running a psmouse

The scroll bars in MCC are actually quite hard to grab, and scroll that
    way.

My experience over the years is that desktop, desktop theme, and
selection of the mouse using mcc all can make a difference in whether the mouse works well, or in an extreme case at all. I use Gnome3 and Adwaita
(the default) and have problems with grabbing the sroll bar in some applications, but use of the Up and Down keys or arrow keys usually works
well enough that I have not tried to experiment with an eye to
improvement. That is time consuming, and may be frustrating.

In mcc, go to Hardware and then to Configure mouse and keyboard to Set up
the pointer device. The Universal selection allows choice of Any PS/2 &
USB, which is the usual default, but forcing use of evdev may work better
(or worse). I generally use Wheel in the USB category.

Selection of keyboard type, manufacturer, and model likewise may (or may
    not) make a difference.

    YMMV.

    Cheers!

    Using xfce4? If so, from https://askubuntu.com/questions/427825/mouse-wheel-wont-scroll-100-of-the-time- in-file-system
"Just click on Settings --> Window Manager Tweaks --> Accessibility --> raise windows when any mouse button is pressed, I Unchecked that, and it works PERFECTLY. See image below."

Fixes the problem in a Mageia 7 install I have here.

Well I am impressed. Since I use Xfce it works for me with no side effects found so far.
