In the BBS and Network Ads areas over here, I turned DUPLICATE
CHECKING ON, as several systems were posting the same message for their
BBS more than once a day, which obviously means several times a week. I
noted in some echoes, the moderators have noted "no more than 2 postings
of a BBS ad in a 1 week span", but that seems largely ignored.

Also, I don't consider messages over 30 days old as being "timely", so
once the original post is zapped, a new one can come in, and not be
thought of as a dupe over here.

Besides, folks should logon to a BBS because they WANT to -- NOT
because they have to. For me, the BBS is one of the last few hobbies
that I can still do, with my declining health. I have over 50 medical conditions, with an 11 page med list (doctors, surgeries, meds, etc.),
and they found degenerative disk disease in my spine a year and a half
ago. So, while most days, I'm the only logon, I do it for my
enjoyment...not only for the doorgames, but the banter in some of the
echoes.

not "ignored"... simply "unknown" in many cases because they don't/haven't read the echo rules... they see it is a bot area and set up the bot and likely never look at it again unless their name is in the To: field but that's hard to do when they are using a different name for the bot and the bot doesn't have an account on their system that they actually use to see if there are messages to the bot...

Hi Daryl,

I have progressive DD. If you'd like to chat on what to expect and how to keepit under control (reason for this echo was that type of thing), I'm up for it.

First thing is check the chair you use. Is it fitted for YOUR frame to be properly ergonomic for YOUR condition? This is the one workplace accomodation I need and was not bashful about as a contractor and later a government civilian. (I'm a 26 uyear retired Navy E8).

When I say fitted to your own frame, that is important. Your body isn't a cookie cutter so just because the chair says 'ergonomic', doesnt mean it's right for you. For example, my main need is to properly fit my height. I am 5ft1. If my back doesnt touch the back (and let me rest my back there) then it
is too deep. I have a perfect one at home where my back can rest, my knee is right at the bottom and it lowers so my foot rests flat on the floor. Has arm rests and is wide enough I can ease tension by sitting cross legged. I weigh 119lbs so didn't need anything special in support for the arms to use when getting up. It swivels nicely.

My work chair is a little too deep but otherwise workable. It's the smallest one in the office and when we have a metting in the briefing room, I roll it with me as the other chairs are too high and deep. WE are about to move offices and when asked if we had any accomodation needs, I told them my chair will be moved with me.

It's been awhile since we were in contact, 15+ years since I shutdown my BBS

I am now back in Australia and almost ready to retire and have now revived the BBS tfb-bbs.org

First, thank you for your service. :) My late father served in the US
Navy Submarine Service during World War II, and was in the Naval Reserve
until he retired as an E-9 Master Chief Quartermaster 20 years before he
died from pancreatic cancer. My wife died not 3 months after he passed
on.

Second, there's a swivel chair in the back bedroom (I'm back at my
Mom's place, now mine, as she's dying in a nursing home east of Little Rock)...but I'm in one of those steady metal chairs here at the BBS
computer. I only check her computer occasionally for software updates. Otherwise, the computer for the BBS and ham radio tasks, plus my laptop,
are in the front room. It's rather cramped in here, but there's nothing
I can do about it.

my dad bought me a 42 inch Carhart belt for christmas one year... i was trying to loose weight then... he said it was "future planning" which i understand and we both got a laugh off of it... i've gotta see if i can find the leather punch and add two more holes to it... right now, i don't even have to unbutton or unzip my pants to put them on or get them off... somewhere i should have some of my older smaller waist jeans but the question is if they are in any shape to be wearing...

There was a commercial several years ago...I think it was for Tractor
Supply Company. This family is gathered around the dinner table, and
first, thanking The Lord for the food He had provided, and for His
Blessing and Protection, etc. The family dog is under the table, as if
praying as well. As soon as the father says "Amen", and the folks begin
to graze, the dog bounds out from under the table, and heads upstairs.

He pulls open a chest of drawers, and starts digging around, looking
for an item. He does this several times, until he finds out what he
wants...a gas mask!! It turns out the family is consuming beans,
legumes, and other items that cause severe flatulence. :P

Having found his prize and putting it on, the dog rushes back to the
kitchen, and the family has been completely oblivious to the dog's
actions. Fido lays down, contentedly, under the table, with the gas mask
on.

The announcer comes on and says "We have what you need"...and then, it

Not a good idea. Nowdays, no telling what you might pick up...and for
many of those STD's, there is no cure.

I never had any kids myself...and my late wife didn't want any.
However, we had a son...a dachshund...who was truly an S.O.B. -- and he
acted like one, too. <G>

When I was 20, I caught the chicken pox from my brother, who caught it
from his first wife's kids. His case was mild...mine was so severe that
it put me in the hospital for a week...and out of work at Burger King,
and out of college at the University Of Arkansas At Little Rock for 2
months, by order of the health department.

It was as if someone dropped me into a huge barrel of itching powder,
and closed the lid. Top to bottom...front to back...including my
genitals and buttocks...were COVERED in the pox!! It nearly went into encephalitis, and it could've killed me...it likely sterlized me. Folks
coming in to visit me had to put on surgical gear to protect themselves.
The doctor said it was the worst case he had ever seen. I had to take
NASTY oatmeal baths, and swore I'd never eat it again.

But, when I had to have all my teeth removed in 2000 (I've worn full
dentures for nearly 20 years now), the diet of oatmeal, scrambled eggs,
mashed potatoes, ice cream, etc. got old in a hurry, as I had to "gum everything" until the swelling went down. But, the pain wasn't the worst
part after that (I only took 1 pain pill)...it was the bleeding. And, I
looked like I was a squirrel gathering nuts for winter.

The first dentures I got lasted 9 years, but then when I was told to
get them redone or relined would cost almost $2000, I went to
"Affordable Dentures", and got a full upper and lower pair for just over
$400. They have fit SO PERFECTLY, that I haven't had to use one drop of Fixodent, PoliGrip, etc. So, I have my own set of "falsies". <G>

Then, I was working in silkscreen printing for nearly 20 years, and
likely absorbed a lot of the solvents, especially methyl-ethyl-ketone.
Combined with the severe chicken pox (I now have the shingles virus
inside of me, but have had a shot for it), and the M.E.K., I didn't want
to put a potential fetus at risk for birth defects.

So, as my late wife so eloquently put it, "They wouldn't spay me, so
he volunteered to get neutered". As the team of Bowser and Blue noted in
their song "My Vasectomy"...just like on a Christmas Tree, the balls are
just there for decoration. :P

I am now back in Australia and almost ready to retire and have now revived BBS tfb-bbs.org

1) Dead -- hardly any postings in them.
2) Life Support -- kept alive by autopostings for BBS Ads, etc.

I have progressive DD. If you'd like to chat on what to expect and how CS>keepit under control (reason for this echo was that type of thing), I'm CS>it.

Well, when they diagnosed me with it (on a CT scan, checking for
something else), I reasoned "they shouldn't take away my disability
now". I have a hard time sitting at the computer for a long
time...whether for the BBS, ham radio, or other stuff. I also can't
stand for a long period of time...either at the sink, the toilet, the
stove, or in the shower, as my legs will spasm on me. Even though I've
lost 60 pounds since August, by only eating one meal (I can't afford
more than lunch meat sandwiches, and I'm burned out on them), and many
days, I don't even get 500 calories...not even 25% of the recommended
daily allowance.

First thing is check the chair you use. Is it fitted for YOUR frame to CS>properly ergonomic for YOUR condition? This is the one workplace

I need and was not bashful about as a contractor and later a government CS>civilian. (I'm a 26 uyear retired Navy E8).

First, thank you for your service. :) My late father served in the US
Navy Submarine Service during World War II, and was in the Naval Reserve until he retired as an E-9 Master Chief Quartermaster 20 years before he died from pancreatic cancer. My wife died not 3 months after he passed
on.

Second, there's a swivel chair in the back bedroom (I'm back at my
Mom's place, now mine, as she's dying in a nursing home east of Little Rock)...but I'm in one of those steady metal chairs here at the BBS computer. I only check her computer occasionally for software updates. Otherwise, the computer for the BBS and ham radio tasks, plus my laptop,
are in the front room. It's rather cramped in here, but there's nothing
I can do about it.

Does the chair fit so your back is to it and knee backs snug to the rim as you sit?

There are a few fixes if too deep.

hip and right shoulder have gotten worse.

Bummer. I had a chemical stress test and an ECG last year...no
blockage, and my heart is good.

Does the chair fit so your back is to it and knee backs snug to the rim as CS>sit?

Right now, I'm up against it, but I don't lean back, or I'll tip over.
