• BINKPOLL Question

From Dream Master@VERT/CIAD to Digital Man on Mon Feb 1 12:30:23 2021
I'm seeing strange output in my syslog for BINKOUT. Please review:

BINKPOLL Attempting callout for 618:300/1@micronet, file: /sbbs/fido/outbound.26a/012c0001.flo
BINKPOLL JSBinkP/4 callout to 618:300/1@micronet started
BINKPOLL Connecting to 618:300/1@micronet at realitycheckbbs.org:24554
    BINKPOLL Will encrypt session.
    BINKPOLL Peer version: BinkIT/2.41,JSBinkP/4,sbbs3.18c/Win32
    BINKPOLL Authentication successful: secure
    BINKPOLL Receiving file: /sbbs/temp/event/CSCNET.ZIP (11.8KB)
BINKPOLL Sending file: /sbbs/data/dirs/fidonet_nasa/ap210131.zip (230.5KB) BINKPOLL Received file: /sbbs/temp/event/CSCNET.ZIP (11.8KB)
    BINKPOLL Moving '/sbbs/temp/event/CSCNET.ZIP' to '../fido/inbound/CSCNET.ZIP'.

(I removed timestamps and other data from the output for the sake of clarity)

On the third to the bottom line, it informs "Sending file:". Why? Where? Is it because my MicroNet hub wants files from my NASA FidoNet feed? Or what?

Confused. Lost. It's Monday. I already had one cup of coffee and a Diet Pepsi. If I have any more caffeine I'll probably pop.

Because the file is in your outbound directory. That's out Binkly Style Outbound works: https://wiki.synchro.net/ref:fidonet_files

    Where?

It's sending the file to 618:300/1@micronet

Does your tickit.ini have a links= line that includes that node?

I never include nodes on that line unless I want to send files to that node.

    Ttyl :-),

But every time the BBS recycles?

    My outbound directories are empty.

See, I was following the directions again. :|

My last iteration of tickit.ini didn't have it and I had all levels of issues.

Let me give it a whirl.

Every time there's a connection to the node of interest.

    My outbound directories are empty.

    Apparently not?

    Apparently not?

    Apparently.

That's the only time the mailer (BinkIT) sends files (or if a corresponding flo files says to). If you doubt it, you could try a different mailer (e.g. BinkD) instead, but I think you'll find the same is true there.
