Compared to other internet forums online, I doubt there are a whole lot of people reading Dove-Net. So there might not be much chance of someone else who is also interested in those things replying to those messages.

It sucks that IMDB removed their message forums several years ago. I heard of another movie forum that came up, moviechat.org, which may be a good place to discuss movies online.

I guess what I meant was that his posts there (and mostly everywhere),
don't exactly lend themselves to opening up a conversation. Here's an
example of a recent post:

Subj: Bourne Identity, Supremacy, Ultimatum

Msg: I thought Matt Damon was a great action star in these movies.

That's it. How would one respond to such a statement? I guess you
could either agree with him, such as: "Yeah, I thought so too!" ....
or, disagree: "Nah, Matt Damon sucks!" . It's just the way it's
written that makes it almost pointless to consider responding. What
else can you say to such a dead-end observation?

There is that, but there is also the fact than when you mention a movie, you should talk to it enough to get people involved.

"I watched $film and found it good" is not a statement that gets people interested in the film, much less in discussing it. "I watched $film and found it good, because of $reason_1, $reason_2 and $reason_3. What do you think?" is more likely to get people interested.

Maybe we could say that the Bourne films have recently been talked about... and the conclusions we got were actually interesting.

Also, Matt Damon's best role is Spirit and everybody knows that.

(But yeah, it is quite a dead-end conversation by that point).

I always read the message boards. Interesting posts there. On the board under horror movies, people talked about paranormal activities they witnessed. I miss the message boards. I'll check out the site you mentioned.
