• WinUAE limits?

From Jonathan Hodges@39:902/516 to All on Fri Aug 24 20:02:24 2018
How many hard drives or hard files will WinUAE support? I'm asking because of hard file limitations and the ammount of files I wish to put online I would need a dozen or so hard files. I would have a 750mb sized hard file for every cd's contents to put online. I already added a cd using an .ISO file of it, but
I don't see how I can add more that way. Suggestions?

    How about diskimage?

    Other than that:
Why don't copy the contents of the CD images to an SFS/FFS/PFS partition? At least with OS3.9 you are not limited anymore to 4 GB boundary.

Don't use hardfiles.. it's a very bad idea. They run slow as crap compared to running using folder mode.. create a folder somewhere and add directory to WinUAE and point it to the folder you created, assign the device DH1 and make sure you check 'limit directory size to 1g' and you have a DH1 drive with as much storage as your HDD permits.

Why not use the PC that WinUAE is running on to handle the .iso's, in other words open up as many .iso's on the PC side as you want, then just add them
as directories to WinUAE. That is most likely what I am going to do when I
get my CNet stable enough for public consumption.. As long as WinUAE will
allow say 10 directories I will be good.. Try doing that..

i had a a3000 with 2 pioneer scsi cdrom changers that each hold 6 cdrom from aminet :)

    xenolink handled this very fine

it was big as that time, today i could run winuae on respberry pi with one usb 3 stick with 64GB and have a complete mirror of aminet

    time changes

It's amazing what we can do today.. If I had the technology I have today back then the things I could have done would have been endless...

today one single rpi4 can have it all on a microsd card, for less electrical power usage
