Well what do you know, the amiganet.* usenet hiarchy is now alive. It's only running on bbs-scene.org at the moment, but I will be sending out the control messages tonight to create it on all the nntp servers out there.
I would rather have you didn't anounce them! But could you atleast not gate SYSOP_AMY and Z39_AMY !? They are restricted. We should have some areas
with some kind of privacy from the general public.

The Z39 and SYSOP echos are not being gated
and a checkgroup message isn't an annoucement, it's a special control message for nntp servers to create the groups on their servers.

But isn't that archived somewhere so google (and alike) knows where to come knocking?

Yes, control messages are archived at the ISC but google hasn't automatically processed newgroups in years. In order to have google groups carry certain newsgroups you have to make a written request to them via email and trust me, I plan on making no such request, lol.

it happends every day on RAILFAN (irex news to ftn)I gave up on using IREX to gate echo's to newsgroups. Irex sucks, especially for gating. Synchronet does a much better job.
