Has anyone ever worked with bink4d? I know Neil Williams, the author of Zeus BBS has it working. My main problem is that if I run it in server mode I get a bus error in UAE and if I run it in poll mode it never exits (I have to control c it to quit the process).

So right now it's sort of useless unless I am physically at the machine creating a poll and kill the process once it's done. I know that Neil has dealt with the problem, but he isn't answering emails or netmails.

    Anyone?

he does not use bink4d, but telser.device and trapdoor :)

qico in linux can do emsi that way

some needs to fix this bink4d on aminet

can be scripted with a cron

I know that Neil has dealt with the problem, but he isn't answering emails or netmails.

    shame on him :)

    Anyone?

if zeus worked i would have paid for it long time ago, but lost intrest to upgrade my xenolink key to zeus :(

Funny, back in March he told me that he was using bink4d and gave up on trapdoor. Plus, version 1.6 of zeus that he wrote has a built in frontdoor style mailer and a ftn email tunneler to tunnel ftn via email. I have try that but havne't been able to get ifcico to work in linux. I have never heard of qico, but I will try that.

Version 1.6 of Zeus works great. All of the features work flawlessly, I just need some sort of mailer to work. Well worth the money.

My binkp connections to his system show this in my log file:

    - 14 Nov 08:21:27 [23915] SYS TKG_BBS
    - 14 Nov 08:21:27 [23915] ZYZ Neil_Williams

So indeed he seems to have it working on his Amiga.

My main problem is that if I run it in server mode I get a bus error

The windows version in poll mode only quits after 1 minute. Maybe it's the same with the amiga version? I think this is anoying, but what can you do besides control-c it... ;)

He is kind of busy I think, so keep trying...

    Bye, Wilfred.

Is it live for other people to callinto?

I've been playing around with the demo version (based on pree v1 codeZ) and it's not bad.. Just a pitty that there's not a newer version to test!

I'm mulling over switching to an amiga based system or hacking mbse a little (i *hate* the fact that mbse hacks the file name to dos format as well as long file name format.)...

But I'd rather run a bbs system on cheap easy to get pc hardware than a real hard to replace amiga. (ie: my cyberstorm 68060 accel card is dead)

Sort of. I have to change the graphics package around and get the Doors working, but you can calling in to it tonight if you wish once I move it live. telnet://amiga.diskshop.ca

I picked up a 1200 quite cheap off e-bay for the system. Currently I am running it under UAE on a Mac since I haven't recieved the PCMCIA network I order yet. Once I get the tweaks worked out and get the network card, i'll be moving the system to the 1200.

I figured out that if you drop the rescan delay and the timeout values from 60 seconds to about 20 seconds and guess what, it stops around 20 seconds, lol.

It's changed quite a bit in the past few days. It should be at 80% now. The only thing left it to get my files back up and some of the doors working. Tell me what you think of it now.

I just realized that the machine isn't on right now. I will have it back up later this evening.
